Now serving as the Pro Vice Chancellor of East West University in Dhaka. Also worked as the Treasurer of East West University for a year from September, 2012. Before that, was a selection grade professor at the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), University of Dhaka. Also served ISRT as the Director from 1999 to 2001. Have more than 40 years of experience of teaching and research at university level and in planning, designing and implementing large-scale surveys and evaluation studies, analysis and writing of reports. Has commendable expertise in Survey Methodology, Quality Control in Surveys, Research Methodology and developing evaluation strategies. Did Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics (Probability theory) from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 1979. Obtained M.Sc. and B. Sc (Hons.) in Statistics from the University of Dhaka in 1971 and 1970 respectively. Have all through first class academic career. Was able to publish a large number of research article/Papers in reputed peer reviewed International and National Journals, prepared and published Research Reports and Books, and presented Conference Papers. In last 40 years of work experience at university level, served a number of universities at home and abroad and are well aware of education curriculum and systems followed by western and neighbouring universities. Worked as coordinator and lead consultants of study teams representing multi-disciplinary fields for a number of studies; assisted with the analysis and interpretation of results, has in-depth applicable skills and knowledge of analysing primary and secondary data in areas like socio economic conditions, population, health, water and sanitation; nutrition, poverty and development. Worked as Project Director (PD) and Principal Investigator (PI) in many research studies sponsored by USAID, ILO, World Bank, MEASURE Evaluation (USA), Macro International, ICDDR,B, UNICEF, JICA,SESAME Workshop NY, GFATM, BCCP and SMC, Plan Internat

2010 Inventory of Emergency MNH Drugs and Monitoring the availability of Drugs
Was Principal Investigator (PI) for monitoring the availability of essential drugs at public health facilities in Bangladesh and identify bottle necks in the supply chain. The study was sponsored by UNICEF.
2010 Utilization of Essential Service Delivery (UESD) survey
Was Principal Investigator. It was a national level survey sponsored by NIPORT & GTZ.
2011 Bangladesh Health Facility Survey
The survey collected health facility data from public, private and NGO health facilities in Bangladesh for assessing availability of human resources, equipment, drugs, and logistics. Was co-Team leader with Dr M.R. Khan of Tulane University, USA.
2011 Baseline Survey of Safe Motherhood Promotion Project Phase II
Was the Principal Investigator for conducting the baseline survey and writing of the report. The survey covered two south-west districts of Bangladesh collected information on maternal and child health and assessed neonatal mortality. The study was sponsored by JICA.
2013 Bangladesh Urban Health Survey (UHS)
Was the Project Director for conducting a survey in urban cities and towns in Bangladesh for assessing health opportunities and needs and study differentials by slum and non-slum areas and other characteristics. It was a collaborative project of MEASURE Evaluation of the Univ. of North Carolina, ICDDR,B and ACPR. ACPR actually conducted the survey and I was the Team Leader.
