Mathematics Teacher

Along with my 7-12 grade Minnesota Mathematics teaching license, I have a teaching certificate in Music and I have a very strong Computer Technology background that you may find useful. After 20 months of working with an on-line school (MN Virtual High School) through Advance Academics, I have learned about commitment to education. My teaching approach and credentials would be a great match for your school. As a Mathematics teacher with Advanced Academics, I have had the opportunity to implement the strategies of three courses I have recently completed for renewing my teaching license of “Teaching Mathematics for Understanding”, “Motivating Today’s Learner”, and “Technology Tools for K-12 Teachers” to create a positive learning environment. I have recently finished the Masters of Education program at St. Mary’s University. I have used my caring and encouraging attitude to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, their families, and my colleagues, and experienced first hand the benefits of working together to reach the common goal of providing each child a quality education. During my two years of High School Math (Algebra and Geometry) teaching experience in St. Francis, I saw the advantage of interdisciplinary teams fostering long-term relationships with and among students. The interdisciplinary teams provided proactive, positive behavior intervention by meeting adolescent students’ developmental needs and guiding students toward increased independence. My background includes a variety of relevant experiences that have prepared and given to me the versatility to be successful teaching at any grade level. In particular, I have had the opportunity to implement a variety of hands-on, minds-on, meaningful, collaborative, and integrated activities. These strategies engage my students, and have allowed me to provide differentiated instruction to all students.
