Kenneth Willenberg

Cape Town, South Africa

My background and forte is being a chess player first and foremost. I have won a number of national titles played internationallly at numerous world chess championships from 1999 - 2004. After 2004 I turned my focus onto chess training and working side by side with my father Roland Willenberg who pioneered the chess coaching industry which today is still an informal industry in the chess world.
I coached many Western Province and South African chess players and teams over the period of 2004 - current. Now i work for government on the MOD programme which has a focus on youth talent identification in predominantly underprivelidged areas. We scout for potential WP and SA chess coaches and players. We aim to create a viable pathway for grassroots level sports people and do holistic develop of our youth by infusing life skills and values into our teachings and guidance. I enjoy my occupation as it does not pay much in rands but pays me much in fullfilling a lifelong dream and goal. Kenneth Sean Willenberg
