Manager QA and HSEC
Outotec Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of Outotec Oy in Finland, which world-wide has more than 4000
employees involved in the design, supply and construction of multi-million dollar mining and metallurgical process plant. In Australia, the company employs around 800 permanent and
temporary personnel in offices and on sites around the country. Outotec is a major player in the minerals and resources industries, with global sales in excess of 1 billion Euros annually.

My responsibilities included:
• Developing a quality management system QMS
• Gaining third party certification of the QMS.
• Continuous improvement of the QMS.
• Development of an integrated safety management system SMS
• Ongoing improvement and administration of the integrated systems.
• System and site audits - both quality and safety, internally and on suppliers.
• Maintenance of the external QMS certification process.
• Management of two separate systems for sister companies simultaneously until they
were integrated this integration managed by myself
• I reported to the respective Managing Director until restructuring of the organisation.
• Undertook extended site roles for quality and safety requirements at a number of sites
whilst still maintaining responsibility for corporate matters.
• Also, a foundation member of a global Outotec committee for the development of a
world-wide quality, safety and environmental management system for Outotec globally - a project that is well advanced and due for completion in late 2013.

Performance was measured by:
• Number of audits conducted and their results.
• System improvements for both quality and safety.
• Improvement in safety data collection and statistics.
• QMS certification of the company.

• Maintained QMS certification for two companies simultaneously until they merged.

Construction Site Manager

Lurgi Australia Pty Ltd and Lucon (Australia) Pty Ltd

Lurgi Australia Pty Ltd was a wholly owned subsidiary of Lurgi AG in Germany, and Lucon
(Australia) Pty Ltd in turn a wholly owned subsidiary of Lurgi Australia.
Lurgi Australia undertook the design, supply and construction of multi million dollar metallurgical
(and similar) projects within Australia. The global organisation numbered around 4000, with the
Australian office comprising approx. 100 professional staff. Lucon (Australia) was developed as a
fabrication and construction company for the use of Lurgi and had an additional workforce
numbering in excess of 400 persons, varying according to projects at hand.

My responsibilities included site construction management of multi-million dollar projects such as:
• Aqueous Waste - Activated Sludge Facility for the Waste Recycling and Processing
Service of NSW at Lidcombe. Value approx. A$8 million
• Fourth Alumina Calcination Unit for Kaiser Engineers (for Worsley Alumina Pty Ltd) at the Worsley site via Collie, WA. Value approx. A$14.5 million
• Chlor-Alkali plant built at Kwinana WA for Nufarm-Coogee Pty Ltd. Value approx.
A$18 million
• Fluidised Bed Gold Roasting Plants for Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines in
Kalgoorlie, WA. Value approximately A$9 million
• Charcoal Plant for Barrack Silicon (now SIMCOA) at Kemerton via Bunbury, WA.
• Chlor-Alkali plant for Nufarm-Coogee Pty Ltd at Kemerton via Bunbury, WA. Value
approx. A$17 million
• Electrostatic dust precipitator units for the SECV at Loy Yang Power Station via
Traralgon in Victoria. Approx. value A$100 million
• Commissioning Engineer at the Loy Yang Power Station for the first unit (unit #2).
• Worsley Alumina Project via Bunbury WA - Site Engineer and acting Site Manager.
Value approx. A$35 million

Performance was measured by:
• Timely completion of the site works.
• Good site relations, industrially and between contractors and customer.
