I am very passionate about teaching, and see each student as a canvas whereby with the right coaching and teaching approach he or she can truly excel academically. I am confident that in order for me to be successful as a student's teacher, I must first earn his or her trust; for how can I reach him or her, if I am not prepared to meet him/her exactly where he/she is and from there build.
I have spent a few years at the elementary level, where I worked with students who had reading and comprehension deficiencies. Understanding how children at that level learn, I incorporated in all my lessons audio recordings of nonsense jingles I wrote and performed. Later, I would integrate it into Language Arts, Phonics, etc.
At the college level, I taught college preparatory courses to students with various learning disabilities. Here, I presented essay writing, research/expository writing techniques, college reading strategies; all the while ensuring that the material was presented to my students in the simplest and most effective forms possible. To date, I have a 99 per cent success rate, as I stop at nothing in ensuring that my students are successful. (References are available)
Teaching is in my estimation an art form that is constantly evolving. It is both a quest and a destination that begins with self-awareness and ends with self-assurance. I am honored to be a teacher.
