Katie has worked on a variety of areas in hydrogeology, environmental science and also the investigation and mapping of mining areas over the past years. Several major projects have included the remapping of the ‘Creswick Deep Leads Map’ for the ‘Geological Survey of Victoria’, the investigation of gold and titanium deposits for various Victorian and Australian mining companies, as well as hydrogeology investigations for both public drinking water and forestry supply, and also for contaminant investigations in the Central Highlands area of Victoria, e.g. ‘The biodegradable fraction of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) at the Hepburn Mineral Springs at Daylesford (VMWC)’, and ‘The forest revegetation, soil stability and weathering, E.coli, arsenic and cyanide levels in the Ballarat Black Hill Reserve, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia’ (for Ballarat City Council), as well as discussions and data provided for analysing the groundwater system in the Upper Loddon Deep Lead River System with the Goulburn Murray Water, Victoria.

Overall, Katie’s investigations have covered the interaction of hydrogeology, surface soil and water analysis, the re-mapping of mined deposits in south-eastern Victoria, and the investigation and assessment of forestry and weed distribution, through field work, laboratory and computer analysis (programs used have included GIS software - MapInfo, ArcView, and ArcGIS, and Vulcan Minex 3D).
