Learning Support Assistant
Burton and South Derbyshire College
September 2012 - October 2013
I support learners with any physical, mental or learning difficulties to achieve their full potential and strive to achieve the core values of Burton and South Derbyshire College. My duties have included supporting the development of learners at the college through various avenues such as note taking, further explanation, and general support in the classroom. This will help learners to achieve their maximum potential as the focus of the college is on the learners. I also help the learners understand the lessons which they are being taught and they are also able to bounce back their ideas and discuss together how they plan to move forward in their college learning experience. I help learners to achieve their own maximum potential and do this by showing respect to all learners and staff. I value the different talents of our learners. I have been involved in various departments throughout the college including Sixth Form, Performing Arts, Adult Engagement, various levels of Maths and English, JCP Skills Conditionality, Games Development and several other courses. I have also engaged in one-to-one learning by being a study buddy. Furthermore, I keep accurate Additional Learning Support Attendance Logs which I submit weekly to the ALS Team Leader to record all my support activities.

The project is youth led and involves the cross-generation storytelling of sporting memories. I have interviewed several members of the older generation including the late sporting hero Tommy Godwin, winner of two bronze medals for cycling in the 1948 Olympics. These stories will be recorded, and a DVD will be produced to distribute to local schools. The group has also organised a Community Games event which took place in June 2012. The aim is to leave an Olympic legacy for future generations with stories from the older generation. Through my work on the project, I was awarded a highly commended Young Volunteer of the Year Award for East Staffordshire in 2012.
Canada (September 2005-April 2008)
My role was to take hand written or computers based notes during university lectures. I then had to format the notes according to the needs of the individual student. I recorded the notes in the administration office and made sure they were delivered within forty-eight hours of the class. I did this from my second to fourth year at university along with my full time course load.
