I'm a doctor of Counselling Psychology, work for myself and work with a diverse range of clients of varied ages with a variety of issues. I am client centered meaning I stay focused on meeting the client's experience, which encourages a focus on exactly what it is they wish to work on and make peace with or change.
I can work either short or long term, depending on the aspirations of the client. Short term is usually about 'problem solving' and long term about 'growth', but this distinction is again, client dependent. I utilise a variety of therapeutic modalities, begging and borrowing from all of the old, deep thinkers and theorists, as well as the more current, evidence-based modalities. I also have a growing fascination in 'energy psychology'.
My interest and expertise in couples therapy is also growing, having recently completed some intensive development in a new and highly effective way of working with couples. This approach is short term oriented, yet can reap amazing results for each individual within the couple and for the couple as well.
My other love is teaching, having been a lecturer, tutor and co facilitator of various courses related to counselling, psychology, health and even business (!). Prior to this I was employed organisationally, largely across organisational development and training roles.
Lecturer/Course Co-ordinator Career Development
Victoria University of Technology
February 2003 - March 2005
As the lecturer of the subject I designed and delivered my own learning materials. The mean age of students was nineteen years, and significant planning was undertaken to ensure the course content was age appropriate and helpful. Total number of students is 60 (3 x groups of 20), all with diverse natures, aspirations, personalities and life experiences. Management of the group dynamic was key.
Prior to this role I also worked as a tutor in the Health Minor of the Physical Education Program at VUT, which is where I completed my first degree.

Wellness Program Development Consultant
May 1991 - August 1994
Organisation Development Consultant
I was recruited to Telstra to establish an employee wellbeing program to target absenteeism. After establishing this I transitioned to Organisation Development, largely because I believed that the health of employees is more complex than participation in a health program. Thus I was involved in pilot site work to create a model environment of participation, two way communication and autonomy. Close, collaborative relationships with Managers were key, in conjunction with coaching of front line supervisors and participative planning workshops to design the way forward.
