Art therapy is a psychotherapy which uses art as a communication tool.

In a safe, therapeutic framework, client and therapist work together to explore thoughts and feelings evoked by the clients art work.

This involves the client creating an image, and then together, client and therapist, make sense of his/her experiences by providing a focus for discussion and reflection.

This form of non-verbal communication is really effective for clients who find it difficult to articulate their problems, issues and worries in a verbal way, and by creating a safe place and outlet to explore, engenders an atmosphere of safety, confidentiality and trust between client and art therapist, allowing the therapeutic relationship to build.

For many clients the image made can often symbolise inner experience, feelings, and anxieties which then are worked through in the relationship with the art therapist and provides a visible memory of the session.
Art work is treated with utmost care by the Therapist
