I have been loving the new found career in hairdressing, and enjoy the difference I make to women's lives by creating the look, regarding their hair, brings an instant smile to their and my face.

I have competed in the Regional 2011 and 2014 competition for PRE TRADE Blow Wave, and came third both times. I love being a hairstylist and the excitement and joy that comes with it.

I love my new found career as it gives me great pleasure in making others happy with the end results of my handy work.
Being polite, respectful and curtious manner is very important, as this is the foundation of a successful business.
Good skills and attitude is a form of advertising, as this could lead to new clients. Having individual consultations with your clients is getting to know their likes and dislikes; also allows you to give feedback, understand and meet their needs and satisfaction.


Styling, Cutting, Colouring:
When styling or performing a service on a client, we have to observe visually and physically before we proceed with any service, that is why consultations are very important in our field.
We have to have a good understanding of hair, face shapes, skin and eye colours including hair texture and condition.


Health and Safety:
It is very important to have a clean and tidy salon and have a work place free from incidents and accidents.
Always be mindful of the clients and co-workers in the work place. It is important to make sure your colour client take a skin test before performing a colour service, as this will protect your client, yourself and the business.
Do not come to work when you have are over tired as this could cause you to be unhappy at work which could have negitive reactions ro a flu could be passed on to clients and fellow workers.

Creative and Artistic Skills:
Waikato Institute of Technology have taught me good time management, retail and basic accounting skill that I can apply to the business. I have acquired a third place blow wave NZARH certificate in my first year, at a Regional Competition. This actually sealed my confidence and brought me to realise that I have made a great career choice.
