I am very skilled in my counselling abilities and can integrate a multitude of Social Work and counselling theories and models, name them, know their frameworks, and what applies into a particular area of practice.
I am skilled at building good strong open and honest relationships with clients and appreciate and acknowledge them and my peers for the teachings they other me as a Social Worker.
Having studied counselling within a Christian framework I am skilled at teaching clients by way of Christian values such as respect, autonomy, humility,dignity and social justice and this is reflected in the positive outcomes I have with clients.
I am very skilled at report and case-note writing, using my values into my written work I write concise non-judgemental pieces that encompass clients mental/emotional, physical, social and spiritual world.

• Case manage and support mothers and their children in a residential setting through initial assessment, education and referral within a care and protection framework, support personal client and family growth from a Strengths Based model of practice, and work accordingly to agency policies and procedures.
• Meet with, and work collaboratively with government and non-government agencies (Child Youth &Families (CYF), Probation, Lawyers, Medical Practitioners, and Community Alcohol Drug & Drug Services) to acquire resources and assist clients in meeting day to day needs and agreed plans.
• Prepare and submit reports to CYF, produce and monitor on-going safety plans, and make on the spot responsible decisions that are in accordance with care and protection legislation.
• Participate fully as a member of a multi-disciplinary team for on-going service delivery and development.

Substance Abuse Counsellor/Case Management

• Provide alcohol and other drug intensive counselling (education, support intervention, assessment and referral) to individuals and families experiencing the impact of addiction from alcohol, drugs or gambling within an established framework.
• Residential support and group therapy sessions are achieved through recovery-based case management activities and working effectively with other members of a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive client service.
• Case manage drug court and newly released felons with 12-step substance abuse meetings and deliver counselling/guidance sessions with clients.
• Assist individuals with brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, alcohol and other drug addictions, psychiatric disorders including pain management issues and many other barriers to employment.
• Provide tutoring and counselling services to individuals and families with mental illness, substance abuse, transitional and vocational needs.
