Art Teacher

From April 2006

* Introduced a wide-range of projects that focused on the interests of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Lesson plans revolved around the fundamentals of Discipline Based Art Education. Each project unit was accompanied by written assignments, observation of moments from Art History, student assessment and critique of projects, and discussions of aesthetics related to projects. Student-centered projects reinforced elements of art and principles of design, and correlated to appropriate district guidelines and New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for Visual Art, Language Arts, and Mathematics.
* Attended multiple AENJ and NJEA Conferences, as well as various professional development seminars.
* Further utilized classroom management techniques, lesson-planning abilities, presentation skills, collaborated with fellow colleagues within the department, and other professional responsibilities.
* Established Art Club, a weekly extra curricular activity in which serious art students developed higher level art projects. Work presented at Teen Arts Festival and Youth Art Month Shows. Art Club Advisor.
* Coordinated and led first school trip to Union County Teen Arts Festival in March 2007. Coordinated trip every year since. Each year, one piece of student artwork was selected for the Teen Arts Showcase.
