Senior Consultant

Synergy International

October 2005 - October 2006

Scope of Role:
I was involved in the project management of four technical IT projects for Vodafone (New Zealand) that ran simultaneously. These included source code migration, back-end systems upgrades and platform migrations. In order to deliver these successful it was vital to keep open and effective communication between the Vodafone stakeholders and the Synergy development team.
In January 2006 I accepted the role of NZ programme manager in Wellington for the development and implementation of an industry strength system capable of scanning 30,000 web requests per second for MessageLabs (UK).The role involved building a local team of fifteen people mainly through hiring resources, coordination and management of development teams across New Zealand, India and UK. Challenges that I faced included communicating remotely with teams across multiple time zones, aligning the delivery of work steams and embracing constantly changing requirements.

Programme manager

October 2000 - October 2005

I was involved in the programme management of a portfolio of technical and organisational programmes, including web portal, order entry, CRM, Provisioning, Mediation, Billing, AR/treatment, Reporting, VoIP, DSL, Data Warehousing, KPI and ISO 9000 implementation projects. This included tracking the business cases, monitoring TCO of the programmes and ensuring the Operational Excellence contribution. I was responsible for the end to end implementation of the new triple play (VoIP, Television and Internet over DSL) service processes and systems support for these processes. This ncluded customer service, helpdesk, personal self care web pages, trouble ticketing, 3rd party installations management, number porting, line porting, and MACD processes and support. A key aspect of the role was to manage all stakeholder relationships, for instance a close cooperation between procurement, Samsung in Korea, our local vendors and our internal departments.

Project manager

October 1997 - October 2000

My responsibilities covered Project and Account Management across several clients; National Health Service departments, Mobil Oil, Quest International, Pedigree Masterfoods (MARS), Powergen, EPA Ireland, Lisheen Milling and Goonvean Mining. In order to meet the customer expectations and because of the high level of dependencies of other internal customer activities it was common practice to apply strict milestone management and time boxing so that the other involved parties could commence their activities on the agreed dates.

Project manager

Quest International

February 1996 - October 1997

Project Management of complex and customised Information Management systems for the Quality Control Department of six Quest International sites in Western Europe. Quest is a large, global food ingredient manufacturer. This covered bespoke interfaces to MRP/Mainframe, email and in-house developed workbench and warehouse systems. In addition, I was responsible for the design, specification and implementation of complex customisation of information systems for local IT departments, liaising with the software vendor based in the UK. The system supported real time reporting, enforced the use of Standard operation Procedures, HACCP compliancy, Chemical and Microbiological analyses results and Vendor rating
