Possessing more than two decades of experience as a marketing researcher and brand strategist, Julie Monson founded Julie F. Monson Marketing Research & Planning in 2001. Based in Shoreview, Minnesota, the consulting firm has worked with clients such as Polaris Industries Inc., Best Buy, U.S. Bancorp, Ecolab, and the University of Wisconsin, as well as several major advertising agencies in Minneapolis/Saint Paul. Ms. Monson has repositioned brands in the profit and non-profit sectors, assessed the viability of several new products and services, and led the development of communications strategies for many brands. She has also guided revolutionary packaging efforts, and led numerous strategic intiatives for large and small businesses.

Prior to beginning her career, Julie Monson studied economics at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota, and received a Bachelor of Science in Business at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. While completing a Master of Business Administration at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, she served as a Project Director of Mid-Continent Research.

In 1987, Julie Monson accepted a position as Marketing Research Manager of Dairy Foods for Land O’Lakes, Inc., in Arden Hills, Minnesota. In this role, she handled the strategy for introducing the country’s first light butter, generated $500,000 in annual savings, and designed an innovative system to transmit presentation-ready data to the sales force. Subsequently, Julie Monson acted as Senior Account Planner at Martin/Williams Advertising in Minneapolis, where she was integral to the development of strategic communications and insight-based planning for brands such as Coleman camping goods, Steelcase, 3M, and Lincoln Financial Group.
