Accident Investigations Assistant - Network Rail, Sussex Route

Train Operating Companies

Duties Involved: Checking the daily log for accidents and incidents that affect Network Rail Sussex Route. Logging all incidents into the route register and requesting reports from the Train Operating Companies, Mobile Operations Managers, Signalling Managers and Signallers. Inputting the details into SMIS (Safety Management Information System) database and reporting RIDDOR events to the Health & Safety Executive.
Achievements: Set up a document control system for the route, issuing control numbers to the signal boxes and the appropriate managers. Sending out controlled documents for the route. Arranging the section's archiving and retrieving boxes when required.

Network Rail, Railway Estates

Duties Involved: Reporting accidents and incidents on the SMIS (Safety Management Information System) database and reporting RIDDOR events to the Health & Safety Executive. Collating information from the SMIS database, publishing the data and producing a report for the Executive of Network Rail showing if the company is meeting its targets.
Achievements: Created a trespass and vandalism database. Arranged for a shared area to be set up on the company's computer system for the safety team to access shared folders.

Achievements: Created a team expenses and annual leave spreadsheet. Arranged two departmental moves.

Duties Involved: Collating information on customer accounts and ensuring that the accounts have all the correct information according to FSA Guidelines. Updating and maintaining the department's database. Sending out management reports to the Operational Support Assistants. Cross-referencing various departments' information with Project AUK and updating/editing Excel spreadsheets.
Achievements: Introduced a directory of Operational Support Assistants (OSA's) and a way of e-mailing the management reports to the OSA's.
