What do you love most about your job?
I’m a business owner operating an Audio Visual sales and hire company in three different provinces.
This means I also take on the roles of HR, marketing, accounting, operations and technical support and many other roles too. As a business owner you have to be multi-talented in order to have good knowledge and control as to what the day to day operations are of your business. Oh, and you will work 24 hours a day as you will be thinking, eating and sleeping your business to ensure you are a step ahead of the competition and therefore the success of it.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A friend advised me to do what I'm good at, do what is easy for me and do what I love... sounds too simple, but it actually led me to starting my business that makes work fun for me every day!
I started off repairing equipment for school teaching equipment. Remember the Overhead Projectors and Slide Projectors. Realising that repairing equipment alone was not going to grow the business I had to re-invent it by offering other services. This resulted firstly in the sales of AV equipment to existing schools and corporates for who we were doing repairs and installations and then going the next big leap and purchasing equipment to hire out for events.

We work harder and are more friendly. We also understand that we’re in a business where relationships are the main foundation and we go out our way to foster them. This is how we’ve been able to win and keep so much business. Oh, and we've been in business for over 27 years and built a customer base of over 20 000 clients.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
We carry out technical installations of projectors, screens and other high tech equipment in boardrooms, schools and training rooms. We also hire and rent out AV gear for events, conferences and meetings and need to be onsite to perform the setups and offer technical assistance so we are unable to work online or remotely.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We encourage our employees to work at home, wherever possible and ensure that if someone becomes unwell in the workplace with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature, they should be sent home and advised to follow the advice to stay at home.
Employees have been informed to wear face masks and wash their hands regularly throughout the day.
We frequently clean and disinfect equipment and surfaces that are touched regularly when onsite with our customers.
