Prior to working with Sandy in ‘Elevate the Leader in You’, I was in a total state of paralysis, a multi-layered ‘Freeze’ because life had thrown me one too many curve balls and I was struggling to see past my feelings that I had failed dismally and was just not 'enough'. Not enough of a mom, not enough of a contributor to society, not enough of a breadwinner, not enough of a daughter and not enough of a friend. Through our experiential and practical process, I have realised that this is absolutely untrue and all I was reacting to was my own deep-seated and sub-conscious limiting beliefs of what I thought I deserved, and these were all manifestations of a lifetime of pleasing, avoiding and feeling like a victim of life. Sandy showed me that I was stuck in a loop and literally drowning in low self-esteem and self-worth. With honest self-awareness, I CHOOSE not to be a victim but rather to manifest the life I really want, and since making this decision I have shifted, evolved, and found freedom. I started my business coaching journey with Sandy in January 2022. I had just opened my cake business and at the time I lacked business knowledge. I was struggling with my confidence which had an impact on my communication with customers, charging for my cakes, and standing up for myself. I was very stressed all the time and felt guilty for charging for cakes and as a result I was not making enough money. Sandy worked with building my leadership approach. At the start of our journey - and it was a journey of enlightenment for me - Sandy eased me into the ideology of having a coach.
I had previously resisted the idea as I had the belief that having a coach would mean being psycho-analysed. What an eye opener this journey was for me!
Sandy is calm, easy going and always has just the right way of making you feel at ease.
From the outset, we pledged to be honest and transparent with each other. This allowed me to show my true self and to share things with Sandy that I had neither voiced aloud previously, or shared in any way with others.
My confidence as a team leader was low - which affected my energy and made managing my team challenging. Sandy shared various tools for me to introspect on what was holding me back, as well as what types of things drained my "energy". These led to me being in a state of awareness of what was holding me back.
Our regular interactions always had a degree of me critically thinking and expressing how my week went, what challenges I had faced as well as the successes. This ensured that the way I viewed the world around me became an enhanced experience.
I became less critical of myself and by extension of those around me. The way Sandy prompted me to come up with solutions and guided and held my hand through this process was invaluable. Instead of giving me the answers, her coaching led me to the solution.
I would recommend using Sandy as your personal/leadership coach, based on the fact that she has also been in your shoes at some point in her career - so she will be guiding from experience and not from a text book.
I think every leader needs a coach like Sandy to guide and develop your self confidence, belief in yourself and who will gently allow you to reach a place of believing in yourself. I strongly believe that this will make your leadership stronger and more effective
