We couldn't be happier that we chose Riekert to photograph our conference in Cape Town. Most important for us is that the pictures came out great. He's very creative and caught a lot of really wonderful candid shots as well as "staged" shots. Riekert shot for us on a Sunday and Monday and we had the edited shots by Tuesday. Riekert took the photographs of our elopement in Franschhoek. From our first contact with him he was warm, friendly and always professional. It is clear that photography is his passion, and he appeared genuinely to enjoy his time photographing our special evening. My husband and I got married in Grand Provence in Franschhoek November 2017, we had Riekert as our photographer and he was just amazing. We had been let down by the photographer we originally booked and thankfully were recommended Riekert, you know that saying 'everything happens for a reason', well this applies for sure, Riekert was fantastic, so professional, fun and excellent at his job, our photos are amazing. My family (three young sons, hubs, gramma, and me) traveled to Cape Town from the states. We did a family shoot with Riekert during our holiday in Cape Town last month and are very happy with the way things went. The planning of the shoot went really smooth. Riekert immediately suggested several locations and was very flexible to set a time and date for the shoot. A few days before the shoot he contacted us to settle the last details and on the day of the shoot he was already waiting for us when we arrived. He made us feel at ease right away and was very patient and relaxed with our boys during the shoot. He has such a warm personality and is a real pro! Because the weather wasn’t great, Riekert suggested that we could split up the shoot so we ended up having pictures taken on two beautiful locations! We received a link to the pictures within two weeks after the shoot and couldn’t be happier with the result. Wow, wow, wow! From the moment I first emailed him, Riekert was both professional and warm. He was extremely responsive, and I never felt out of the loop in the process. Having not done an event like this before, I also appreciated how he balanced listening to what we wanted (or thought we wanted) with his experience and made suggestions based on a combination of these. During the event itself, he skillfully combined being in the background so as to capture moments without making people feel uncomfortable with being so friendly that several of my guests complimented what a great guy he is! But what matters most are the pictures, and here, Riekert excels. I am surprised and impressed by how well our live event was captured within a set of 2D images. We organized a family photo shoot with Riekert while on vacation in South Africa, and everything went really well. The session was no hard work at all for us. Riekert was able to engage with our children beautifully, and they had a lot of fun posing for him. We have 3.5 yo twin boys who are full of energy and always running, and Riekert was able to catch a lot of amazing shots of them (which is usually impossible). First and foremost, apologies to Riekert that I have taken so long to write this review. Everyone who has had to make the decision knows that it is tough to choose a photographer as there seem to be many talented photographers out there. With Riekert, we could not have asked for better. I believe our photos speak for themselves - we have had so many compliments on them and many people have said they are the best they've seen... I might be biased but I definitely think they are the best! Riekert caught everything - emotions, the beauty of the scenery, moments between me and my husband, the guests, just everything - and every single photo is beautiful. It was such a pleasure to work with Riekert (and his wife, Iza, who did my hair and makeup). It was wonderful to meet beforehand and chat, where he really gets a sense of what you want... And even before the first meeting, Riekert actually checked the timing of the sunset, etc on our wedding day and advised us what time we should hold the ceremony so that he could work in the best possible photos for us. Other than when we were working one-on-one, we didn't even know Riekert was there! I've been to many a wedding where the photographer was terribly intrusive and he was a wedding photography ninja! The service after the wedding was also wonderful - Riekert was quick and efficient in getting our photos and albums to us (the photos beautifully packaged on CDs in a box) and sent out a few teasers to keep us happy in the short wait. We were so lucky Riekert was available to take the photos on our wedding day. The final photos were absolutely stunning, and Riekert made full use of the beautiful surroundings in order to capture each shot. On the day itself Riekert made us all feel at ease with his easy going manner, and sense of humour. He also worked very fast, and I still don't know how he managed to take so many photos in such a short space of time. We were lucky enough to have Riekert photograph our wedding at Lothian Vineyards.Amanda and I looked at a lot of photogrpahers work. Riekert's magnificient images, particularly those of huge African skies at dusk, were the ones that really caught our eye, and sold us on his ability.The booking and planning process was easy. A single meeting was all that was necessary to discuss the details, and timings. From then on it was a simple matter of fine tuning the logistics, and turning up on the day.The day itself could not have passed any better. The wedding was everything we hoped for and then some, and Riekert and his assistant captured everything. Impressively they did so in the least intrusive way. We were taken back by some of the photos - we just had no idea they were there. Seriously, they must be trained in the art of ninja-stealth!Just as important to us is the fact that Riekert has a winning personality. I saw a photograph by Riekert Cloete on Facebook once that was very striking. The photo showed a bride on horseback with soft ligting. It was beautiful. After some further investigation I saw that Riekert has a special gift for capturing sunsets and stunning wedding moments. It was not difficult to communicate with Riekert in advance of the wedding as he has an easy-going personality. He proposed a wedding time-line which worked wonderful on the day.After attending a number of other weddings I realised what a professional photographer Riekert is, because I was not aware of him most of the time on my wedding day! His unobtrusive, friendly, mature demeanour also attracted compliments from our guests. It was mentioned that he could have been part of our family.When we received our photographs we were blown away by the quality and the uniqueness of the photo’s. There were also more photographs received than expected which was a bonus.
