I have always loved to bake and cook. I find joy in feeding people and celebrating with them. When I had the opportunity to expand my skill set with decorating and design, it became an avenue of moving beyond my friends and family and to be a small part of other people's lives.
Two things:
First, I always tell my clients that if I am the person they choose to work with for there wedding and other cake/dessert needs, thank you so much for the honor of being a part of your celebration. If I am not that person, again, thank you for the honor of the consideration. The wedding or event is not about me, it is about them, and they should be comfortable with the person they are working with.
Second, I also tell my clients that I am not God nor Martha Stewart. Their cake or desserts will not be perfect, but they will be beautiful and taste wonderful. If they can accept that, then we should get along just fine!
