When I first started playing music i wanted to be a rock star. As the years went by I realized that was not going to happen. I took a step back and thought about the reason I was still doing it after all those years. It turned out it was because I enjoyed being with people who were having a good time. I don't go to work, I go to play. Play music that is. And when I do, I endeavor to make sure the people at the party I'm playing at are having as much fun as I am.
I was what is known as a sideman, backing up some very successful artists in the music business. I was the guy in the back dressed in black, supporting the star of the show. Having done that for many years I was on hiatus from one of those shows and was asked by an agent to do a show with a local band. No big stars, no major stadium production, no million lights flashing in my eyes. I knew then that it would be something I was going to look forward too in the future. A group of local musicians playing at events and enjoying each others company and playing great music for happy people.
