What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

The secret to taking a great photograph goes beyond just clicking the shutter. As a photographer, I believe in capturing the soul of the moment. It's about connecting with the subject on a deeper level and understanding their story. My unique approach is to blend the essence of their narrative into the frame. By integrating my photography with storytelling, I aim to humanize the experience and shed light on the subject’s emotions and journey. This not only enriches the photograph but also promotes mental well-being by giving the subject a voice through the lens. In essence, the secret is capturing not just an image, but a chapter of someone’s life.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Can you share a bit about your background and what experiences have shaped you?

What emotions or aspects of your life story do you want to be conveyed through these photographs?

Are there any specific elements or themes that resonate with your personal journey that you would like to incorporate into the photoshoot?

How do you envision these photographs impacting or speaking to those who view them?

Is there a message or cause, particularly related to mental health, that you’d like to highlight through this project?

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about my job is the profound human connection it allows me to forge with people from all walks of life. Photography is a powerful medium, and coupling it with personal stories elevates it to an art that can touch hearts. Through my lens, I have the privilege of capturing emotions, triumphs, struggles, and dreams. Every photoshoot is an intimate journey into someone's life, and being able to share and immortalize their stories is profoundly fulfilling. It's not just about images; it’s about celebrating humanity and fostering understanding and empathy, especially when highlighting mental health. This intersection of art and human experience is what makes my work a labor of love.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My inspiration to start my own business stems from a deeply personal place. Growing up, life dealt me a challenging hand. I lost both of my parents to drug use, endured abuse, and grappled with mental health struggles. Through these trials, I sought solace in creative outlets and found that photography had a cathartic effect on me. It gave me a voice when I felt voiceless and became a healing force.

As my passion for photography grew, I realized it could also be a platform to help others. I wanted to create a space where people could not only have their images captured but also their stories heard. I felt that by intertwining photography with narrative, I could help humanize the photography experience and foster dialogue around mental health, which had been a personal struggle for me.

Thus, my business was born from a place of healing and a desire to connect, inspire, and empower others through the transformative power of photography and storytelling.

Why should our clients choose you?

A prospect client should hire me because I offer a unique and deeply meaningful photography experience. Unlike traditional photographers, my approach goes beyond capturing images; it captures the essence of who you are and the journey you’ve been through. My own background, having faced hardships and mental health struggles, has given me a profound empathy and understanding of the human experience. This translates into a genuine connection with my clients.

Furthermore, my work is not just about creating beautiful photographs, but also about creating a space for expression, healing, and empowerment through sharing stories. For anyone seeking not just a photo, but a piece of art that reflects their soul, or for those looking to contribute to broader conversations, especially around mental health, I provide a deeply personal and impactful service that resonates long after the shutter clicks.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Health Screening: Before each photoshoot, I conduct a brief health screening to ensure that neither the client nor I have any symptoms or recent exposure to COVID-19.

Sanitization: I make sure that all equipment and surfaces are thoroughly sanitized before and after each session. Hand sanitizers are also made available for clients to use.

Social Distancing: Whenever possible, photoshoots are conducted in spacious or outdoor locations to facilitate social distancing. I also use lenses that allow me to capture stunning shots from a safe distance.

Flexible Rescheduling: Understanding that circumstances can change rapidly, I offer flexible rescheduling options for clients who need to postpone due to health concerns.

Virtual Consultations: Initial consultations and discussions about the photoshoot and storytelling aspects are conducted virtually to minimize in-person contact.
