Kathleen Estrella

ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer: In-Home Training. I use several different methods for toning, building muscle and burning calories. I start with range of motion exercises in order to properly assess my clients level of activity and fitness. Transition to non-weighted exercises using body weight only and weight-resistance bands. When clients are progressing well, if and when client feels comfortable, I then move on to free-weights and kettlebells depending on client individual goals. Body weight only can benefit greatly in long-term daily exercise routines (weights are not always necessary). Low-to-Intermediate impact cardio sessions can be tailored to individual levels, with optional advance to Higher levels after safe and proper conditioning - depending on client medical history, exercise history and personal goals (all very important factors in fitness level progression). ISSA Certified Fitness Nutrition: If desired, we will discuss details of proper daily fitness nutrition designed on an individual basis - as allergies to certain foods and medical conditions play a major part in making the right choices in daily nutrition. At age 63, I am in tune to all age-related concerns. I personally am in the best shape of my life. I am eager to instruct, encourage, inform and train those of all ages, in accomplishing your most important transition of a lifetime. I start with range of motion for assessment, then gradually advance to achieve personal goals, always utilizing safe, careful, outcome-based sessions and results. The following are all 5 Star Reviews from my Thumbtack Professionals Customers. I was rated highly for punctuality, responsiveness, and value. 1. Miriam B. Farmington, MI Personal Training Kathleen Estrella has done an excellent job working with my rare physical disability (that makes exercise very difficult) and gently pushes me to my limits while protecting me from hurting myself (very easy to do). It required research on her part and a lot of listening to me. I have had several Physical Therapists and two people helping exercise in the past. Kathleen ‘s fresh take and training was immediately the most useful. She helped me learn to climb to a flight of stairs without pain for the first time in over two decades. It is hard to describe my gratitude for that new skill alone! Jun 3, 2018 - Current July, 2020 2. Lori o. Farmington, MI Personal Training Kathleen is extremely knowledgeable about the body and nutritional wellness. She utilizes her experience and expertise to customize workouts and nutritional plans for her clients. She values the privacy of her clients by not keeping any documentation of her client’s health info. During the first week she had me do a 3-day nutrition log for myself, which we discussed together during our next session, and I was able to learn a lot from the advice she gave me. If there is a certain exercise that causes me discomfort, she provides modifications and/or other similar exercises to do instead. She will set up the weight machines customized with the acceptable and safe weight for me. She also brings her own free weights! Safety is a priority and she make sure to teach correct form so that injuries can be avoided. She has a variety of floor work exercises that she has taught me so that I can do them at home. Also, she will do the floor work with me during our session so that it encourages me to keep going. Overall, wonderful trainer! Fitness Design's reply Individual-specific training is my key for outcome-based results. I am thankful you are pleased with my personal training instruction and techniques, as well as my regard to privacy of personal info. You are a pleasure to work with! Thank you very much! Jun 2, 2018 · Verified · 3. Linda A. Oakland Charter Township Personal Training Kathleen is the first personal trainer I have ever had, and I could not be more pleased. She works with my physical limitations and helps me to gradually overcome them and increase strength and improve body composition. She has wisdom for what path to take to reach my goals while allowing previous injuries to heal. She has given me so much knowledge, and is helping me to do what is best for MY body. She has been happy to answer questions between sessions and has given me so much during her visits. I could not recommend her more highly. Thumbtack Customer Personal Training / Fitness Nutrition Kathleen is awesome! She's highly knowledgeable when it comes to muscles, their connection and function, and how to target specific muscle groups and the entire body effectively, which contributes well to her being an excellent trainer and health coach. Plus, she's attentive and genuinely interested in her clients' health and progress toward their goals. Sep 10, 2017

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

Proper assessment of individual fitness level at the start is imperative to any exercise program. Personal sport/exercise history as well as medical/surgical/injury history provides my opening approach to any fitness-enhancing lifestyle. My key to outcome-based results: Gradual increase in strength and flexibility, energy/stamina. Too fast, high-paced right at the start for most clients is unrealistic, unsafe and open to injury. My knowledge of proper form is first and foremost and together we listen to what your Mind/Body is conveying. Body composition measurement (fat loss/lean muscle gain) will be taken every 2-weeks.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Understanding the safe and proper techniques of any exercise program will eliminate unfortunate mistakes that lead to workout burnout, excess soreness - emphasis on Excess! Everyone will experience some common soreness when working muscle groups the first few sessions. My gradual advances in fitness level aims at avoiding the burnout associated with personal training mistakes. With point being made, the secret to achieving goals for body composition is honing-in on realistic goals and embracing the fact that the Dream-Outcome will far exceed the journey getting there - with the journey being more fun than you could ever imagine!

What do you love most about your job?

This is always a little difficult, because I have so much to say about it! Making a difference in a person's life and knowing that each day they can wake-up looking forward to the day, feeling better about themselves - making decisions that benefit their lives as well as those around them. Helping others develop healthy lifestyle changes also encourages other people in (their) lives who perceive those changes, hence passing the quest for healthy-lifestyle on to others. My desire is to give the gift of health to as many others as possible.

What inspired you to start your own business?

What I Love most about my job just about covers this one. Served in US Army as well and always stayed fit after service. Worked in hospital for 27 years in Medical Transcription - transcribing physician dictated reports, and learned just about every diagnosis and treatment out there. Most of every Medical History involved overweight, lack of exercise and poor eating habits. Worked closely with Cardiologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, and Internal Medicine physicians. My enthusiasm for Health and Fitness coupled with knowledge of modern illnesses in our society, several Fitness Certifications, Anatomy and Physiology, inspired me to Get Out There and help! Now, age 61, feeling great, I am all for a much Healthier and Wiser fit population. Fitness=Freedom
