When my wife and I began planning our wedding in Charleston, SC, we were hesitant about using a wedding planner. However, this may have been one of the best wedding planning choices we made leading up to the wedding. There are so many positives about using this wedding planner and no negatives we can think of. Morgan from YOJ displayed true excitement about our wedding and had an answer or quickly found the answer for every question we had for her. She was flexible, worked with us on every point, and put together one of the most memorable nights of our lives. From the first day we met with her, through the cake tastings, DJ and photographer recommendations, and personally attending and coordinating during the night of the wedding, Morgan worked to make this wedding as close to perfect as possible. Since that night, we have continually had our guests mentioning how great of a time they had, from the beginning of the ceremony, through the reception, until the final song of the night. YOJ helped plan and coordinate my wedding and they were the best! They had great opinions about everything, they were quick to reply and never pushed me one way or the other on any given detail. On the day of the wedding they were prompt in dealing with a mini emergency (that was not their fault), and handled it with grace! Blythe and her dedicated staff created the wedding of my dreams at Magnolia Plantation. Every detail was carried out to perfection, from decor to food, and everything in between! Blythe really went above and beyond for us. She put together my dream wedding and it went off without a hitch (to the best of my knowledge). I was relaxed and calm all day knowing that she was taking care of everything (and she sent me photos through out the day and things got set up). She really took care of everything and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. She picked up on my vision very quickly and whenever I got overwhelmed with decisions (what flowers, what furniture, etc), she gave me a few options, gave me her opinion, and helped me make a quick decisions. Words truly cannot describe how amazing working with the Yoj team was during our wedding prep and big day. We found Yoj through a vendor recommendation list and after my first call with Candice, I was sold that she was the planner for us. Although I interviewed quite a few planners, Candice's balance of professionalism and warm personality was what I was looking for in guiding me through this process. From beginning to end Candice and her team was there for us. Whether it was through emails or calls, they were right there to answer questions or to talk us off the ledge. It a word, they were fantastic. Candice was so knowledgeable of the wedding scene in Charelston. She really knew her stuff and was well connected with vendors. We could ask her for something abscure and she would have the answer. Candice's warmth and friendliness are bar-none. As our planner/advisor, Candice was not afraid to tell us when an idea was not a good one or if we were on to something incredible. We loved that about her because we didn't feel like she had an agenda besides making our day great. Last but not least, the rest of the Yoj team are extensions of Candice's amazing service. Grace, Stephanie, Laura were all fantastic to work with throughout the process. Even on the wedding day, we felt so well cared for by the Yoj staff, particularly having such a small wedding party (we just had an MOH). The Yoj team became our quasi-wedding party grabbing things for us, buttoning my dress, fixing me a drink (much needed -ha!), giving out gifts and keeping us at ease. They were such a well-oiled machined and multitasked like champs! Even our guests commented on how amazing they were days later. We loved everything about working with Yoj! So much so, we are now trying to figure out another reason to work with them so that we can have the experience all over again. Maybe we will have an anniversary party or something! Candice and her team utterly amazing and I don't know how we would have made it through our big day with out them! Candice was able to take ideas we had and make them a reality when I know, I wouldn't have been able to. There were several things we wanted to save money on and do ourselves. And all the gals chipped in and helped us by using their time and their hands to help us get them done. The day of the wedding was amazing. The gals took care of everything so I completely focused on myself, my bridesmaids, my family and my husband. We didn't have to deal with vendor question or loading presents at the end of the night or worrying about staying on schedule through the reception as they took care of all of that. I'll apologize in advance for the length of this review, but someone has to say it. YOJ is flawless in events coordination. I retained their services a year in advance of my inauguration as the Tennessee REALTORS President. With our event being out of state every three years, we had never hired a local coordinator. After tons of investigation, I decided to meet with Candice and her team.I told her I wanted an aquatic cirque-like theme, without being literal with the ocean metaphors. Candice and team immediately went into "this is what we are doing" mode. From that moment, I knew I'd be hiring them. What transpired over the next twelve months is textbook worthy. The communication, the preparation, the availability, all of it was perfect. When we were six weeks out from the event, I took a trip to Charleston to do a final walkthrough of all the events. At 10 pm the night before my final meeting with YOJ, I discovered the hotel staff had made an error and booked something in our event space up til 4 pm the day of the inauguration. Candice had told me it would be a 9 am load-in months prior. Since we handled hotel logistics on our end, I knew the hotel had dropped the ball. I didn't sleep all night, and my meeting was first thing in the morning. I sent an email to my staff liaison at our organization at 3 am. I woke to a call from her saying she'd be in touch with the hotel and would call ASAP.I walked into Candice's building with a gray face. "Candice, I'm sorry to start our meeting on a bad note, but.... the room isn't available until 4 pm for set-up, giving you only one impossible hour."She smiled, picked up her phone and dialed."Hi, honey. It's Candice. I need you to reserve your building for me on the day and night of September 16, ok....... Yes, ok, that's marvelous. I'll let you know if I need it later today. Goodbye."The color of stressed gray on my face turned to orange confusion."Brian, my friend has a fabulous space he just renovated. It's perfect. We'll save enough money on the food with a private caterer that we can easily provide executive coaches from the hotel AND have money left over."I smiled, turning back to my normal color of pastey white.Candice, smiling calmly said, "Now, let's get to the important things and discuss your event."All was well in the universe. We worked out the hotel issue on our side and didn't need plan B, but Candice and team was calmly ready. When the week arrived, Candice and team were on-site at our arrival to make sure we were fully welcomed and communicated with. A gift was in my room waiting for me. Then, Tropical Storm Julia hit. Candice hand delivered umbrellas for my entire family to the hotel in torrential downpours.When the big day arrived, there was zero..and I mean ZERO stress. From the photography session all the way to the doors closing at the end, they were perfect.When I walked up the stairs we were greeted by aquatic characters welcoming the guests. The doors opened to a hotel ballroom transformed into an underwater magical place, including black light jellyfish-like creatures over a stage with water running around the edges. Hanging from the ceilings were oceanic acrobats pouring drinks and mingling with guest. At production time, each of the 50+ stage participants were in perfect order for our 500 guests. They knew were to go and when. No one even noticed the stealth team of YOJ professionals wearing black with headsets on making everything execute flawlessly. After the program, the band YOJ picked and all the entertainers started their parts and the bars opened. We hit two bumps that Candice had no control of knowing they would happen. She was accessible in a snap. When I told her the bumps, they were fixed within seconds with a smile.At the end of the night, tears flowed down my face as I gave Candice the biggest hug of my life. Yoj made our wedding amazing down to every little detail. I was a type B bride, but Candice helped me pull it together. She made the couple who barely planned anything look like rock stars. We were total slackers, but you'd never know it by attending our wedding. We started out saying we wanted to elope and ended up with an enormous and beautiful wedding. Candice worked really hard to incorporate what we wanted while giving it the Yoj touch. There were so many thoughtful little surprises throughout the night. We got married and the Yoj staff had our favorite drinks in hand as we walked out of the ceremony. If you want to lower the stress level while event planning, you are in good hands with Yoj and you can relax knowing your event will be all you imagined and more. What a wonderful company to work with!! Candice and her staff were amazing. They worked well with each of the companies I chose to provide items (tables, chairs, tent, catering, linens, etc), and took the worry out of my hands. We hired YOJ to help us plan our wedding as we were living in Columbia, SC at the time and didn't know the vendors well enough in the area to make sure we were making the right decisions. We were also super busy so I really had to rely on a planner to make all the right decisions for me. I was SO HAPPY with how everything turned out! There aren't enough words to express our awe and gratitude to Blythe and her team from Yoj that pulled together the most perfect wedding for our daughter on Sat. What they delivered was beyond our expectations and brought us to tears at a vision come to life. Blythe thought of details we didn't even know to consider and I'm sure there are many more behind the scene details we will never know she attended to in order to pull off an amazing evening. As the mother of the bride, I assumed my daughter and I could handle this destination wedding planning alone. After initially wading into the waters, I realized we were drowning and needed help fast. Blythe swooped in with her sweet southern charm, throwing us a lifeline with the assurance all would be ok. She held our hands through panic attacks and meltdowns like a trained therapist. When we couldn't clearly verbalized our vision, she listened to likes and dislikes, designed and created exactly what our daughter dreamed of. She took a totally empty ballroom and courtyard and with amazing flowers by Stephanie Gibbs and stunning rental furniture, created a look of welcoming, classic elegance. We never worried about a thing on wedding day. Someone from her team was always anticipating the next step or the next need. From providing angel Catherine, the woman who steamed, dressed and stitched us in, to every last detail that needed attention before the ceremony, at the church and before the reception to staying on top of bartenders and caterers, Blythe directed the event with subtle but firm control. The team shuffled our purses, clothes, heirlooms, papers and other necessities from one location to another and like a miracle, they appeared in our hotel room at the end of the activities. These folks know how to pay attention to the smallest details. The acrobats, the table settings, the flowers floating in water, the jelly fish suspended from the ceiling. The band was so much fun. Having Yoj Coordinate my wedding was the best decision we made. They were so worth it, and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering planning their wedding. I was an out-of-town bride, and having Yoj made things SO much easier. They put me at ease, and gave me the confidence that everything would be taken care of. Candice at Yoj Events planned the most beautiful wedding reception for us at the SC aquarium. I have never seen that space look so elegant and romantic!
