This is a GREAT gym if you need one that offers child care that isn't just during peak hours. The hours begin around 8am and go through 9pm, I believe. Perfect for going for a mid-afternoon workout with my preschooler in tow. The babysitters have always been great, and it's included in the price of membership (tipping encouraged). Another plus is that the parking lot has plenty of spots, and it's a one-way driveway, so that cuts down on the anxiety of trying to walk into the gym with little ones. As for the rest of the gym, it does the trick. Lots of nice equipment, decent class selection. It's fairly pricy, but is on par with other full service gyms (pool, hot tub, classes, child care, etc). I needed to stop my membership because of some things in life changing, and got no run-around. My year contract was up, and that was it. No need for a certified letter and all that nonsense. I've been a member here since 1995 back when they had the tennis courts. Place is great huge weight room with everything you can imagine. Yoga rooms spin rooms many classes that are free with member ship. Now they have a boxing area. Dozens of treadmills and ellipticals. Stair climbers rowing machines . Lockers and showers that are kept clean. I don't even use a lock and never had a issue. My favorite the sauna and the steam room. Lets not forget the pool and hot tub!!!! Still my favorite gym in New York. Has everything you need including pool Whirlpool, steam room, sauna, cafe, classes of all kinds, weight room private personal training room, Pilates room, yoga, boxing, physical therapy, massage therapy, and mini salon, acupuncture locker rooms and an amazing staff. This GYM is all about the customer and it shows! I have worked out as various gyms my whole life and I always realized that It all stems from the leadership . . I was lucky enough to meet with David T the head manager here and he took his time out to meet with me to discuss all of my recommendations. He took me so seriously that in 2 weeks he acted upon them immediately, moving some machienes that I felt would fit better in another location. I have been a member of World Gym Wantagh for over 20 year. It was Wayne Merrick's when my family first joined. I feel very comfortable exercising here. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and though I cannot exercise as strenuously as I did years ago, I can still get the health benefits of using the wide assortment of machines, free weights and exercise classes. Been coming here for years! Only downside of this place is the price ($70 p/month). However it's worth it with all the amenities! There is a full room of gym equipment, Weight rooms, heated pool, hot tub, saunas, multiple locker rooms, and even a childcare center! Always used to drop my kids off there when they were young enough and they loved it! There are included classes with 1-1 trainers and even spin/ barre workouts! I really love this gym! It's impeccably clean, towels are provided, and there are even full tennis courts! In the summers they have a camp, of which my kids did for 2 years and also loved. It is massive here. Great gym many types of equipment and staff is personable and friendly. The only thing I would be on caution as to what goes on here from a deeper level of fitness programs! I love World Gym Wantagh.  I take all of the early morning classes as it is a great option for working parents as classes start at 5:15am.  There has been major improvements with the class offerings and level of instruction.  From heavy bag to spin, yoga, boot camp and small group training's... this facility offers something for everyone. Had a 1 month gift certificate to this gym. It was a Christmas present which from what I believe was not too expensive. Gym is clean and very well kept. Very large with two floors for plenty to do. Attended a cardio kickboxing and also a bag kickboxing class a few times, the instructors were fun and assisted everyone as necessary. Never went in the pool but a great feature. I've been a member about 30 years. This is not your teenager hang out. It's more of a health club. Locker rooms , steam and sauna all immaculate. Staff is pleasant. Plenty of parking. I absolutely love this gym. I'm a 30 year old self conscious female who is out of shape and I wanted to join a gym for a while but was always too scared and intimidated by people who go and worried they would stare and judge. I finally decided to try a free pass to World Gym and was thoroughly impressed. It is very big, extremely clean (which I'm anal retentive about), great equipment, and most importantly, not filled with judgmental people!!! Yes, older crowd but that just means to me that they are more mature and focused on their own health and what they are doing rather than staring at someone else. The staff is super friendly and helpful which is also great! Not some meat heads trying to sell you more crap or make you feel worse. It is pricey, however, which is why I didn't give all stars but I felt worth it to not get some fungus at some $10 gym and then pay more in doctor bills! Plus they have a very clean, organized day care with monitors so you can check on your kid while you are on the machines!! That was another selling point!! More...

I've had gym memberships for the past 30 years and have never had as positive of an experience as I have had at World Gym in Wantagh.  The place is immaculate and the staff excellent, especially the class instructors.  They care, they motivate, and they and take the time to get to know their students.  Very friendly atmosphere.  May be a little more $$ than some other places, but if you plan to take advantage of the classes that are offered it is well worth the price. I have been going to world gym since I moved to Wantagh in 2009. The gym has a great cardio area and good weight room upstairs. The gym regularly updates its equipment and the staff is always seen walking around and cleaning. They have great classes with great instructors. Koga grooves is my favorite class and the instructor is most likely the best one there. There are a lot of classes to choose from at night and in the morning, but none at all during the day on weekdays.A few years ago I used their personal training and it was great! There is a private gym room for personal training which allows you to connect with your trainer and not feel uncomfortable if you are unable to do something. Overall great gym. More...

i like this gym because they have class all day to choose from and babysitting all day, i feel it is very very expensive, i mean come in its not a country club but it has alot of classes and for me thats good!
