My name is Joshua Yanow, owner of WON Creative. Over the last 20 years I have worked hand-in-hand with small businesses to develop websites, blogs, ecommerce sites, digital marketing strategy, and much more. If you can think of a task that needs to be done in a small business, I most likely have done it.

What makes a great website?
A great website is a combination of both style and function. They go hand-in-hand. It starts with a great looking design, incorporates a well-organized menu system, and bakes in the functionality desired. If you can't find what you're looking for in about 3 clicks you may have missed the mark.
The information on the website is very important too. The user should be engaged by what they read, which means great product descriptions and well written content about the services provided are crucial. Photos and videos are also extremely effective ways of engaging users on the website.
With regards to the backend (the behind the scenes stuff), most websites should be built on a content management system (CMS). There are, of course, exceptions to the rule, but with today's platforms most sites can be built using these types of systems. CMS platforms make it much easier for you or your staff to make updates without relying on us developer types.
Finally, a great website should be search-engine friendly, secured with an SSL certificate (even if it is not selling anything), and hosted on a fast server.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We ask lots of questions. It's important to get to know you or your business in order to build a website of marketing campaign that is reflective of who you are.
We'll ask questions about:
- Your history
- Your goals
- Your current platform
- Your technology comfort zone
- What functions your project requires
- What is the start date and project completion timeline
- Your preferred method of communication
- Your budget
- And a whole lot more.
Projects big and small are built on the back of excellent communication between us. We're never afraid to ask questions along the way to ensure that we're all working towards the same goals.
