This is a pretty cool place. I thought it would be like the picker knows,  but this is more furniture and stuff to refurbish an old house or building.  there is lots of great stuff. some weird stuff as well. The problem here are the prices, everything is priced really high. we were looking for an old door for our rental, we found one that would work and wasn't $200, but realized the top corner was cut off. They like they're stuff, but people must be willing to pay for it. The building itself is cool. there's a coffee shop and bar on the first floor. More...

I love working out of this coffee shop. It’s a great creative environment with lots of space to work from. Large tables for bigger groups and little corners when you are needing to concentrate. The shop is roomy enough to have intimate conversations without being involved in the meeting happening next to you by proximity. They also have amazing customer service. This was proven again the other day when they were attentive enough to notice I needed a power source and brought an extension cord right to my table! More...

We traveled from Eden Prairie, MN to Des Moines just to see West End Architectural Salvage. No plans to buy anything. We were greeted after a couple of minutes and had the floor layouts explained to us. Everyone there is so friendly and you can tell they love what they do. We ended up wanting to buy 5 items that we loved. We cut the list down to 3 and purchased those items because that's all that would fit in the SUV. This place is very clean, well lit and easy to shop. Every item has a price tag on it. I can't say enough about this establishment or it's people. FIRST CLASS and a lot of fun!!! Thanks!! More...

We had so much fun browsing and enjoying an amazing coffee. The Staff were so extremely friendly and welcoming. They even gave us some recommendations for other local places we could visit while we were in town. My husband bought me the world there! Yes a cool school globe was our souvenir. Lol. There is something for everyone at this fabulous place. Enjoy!! My husband will continue watching the show and now have great memories of our visit. More...

Don and his staff were fantastic to work with and were very receptive to us and our wishes!! We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or people to work with!! Dance floor is amazing with the beautiful chandeliers, brickwork, and architectural decor! My daughter fell in love with the vibe of this place and was elated on her wedding day with its beauty! A wonderful gem in the city of Des Moines...It would be a gem in any major city for that matter! This old converted warehouse is filled with wonderful things huge and small and all unique. Pieces great for decorating  and gifts or finishing touchs in restoring your home. You can spend hours working your way through all the nooks and crannies, so be prepared. Luckily there's a little cafe so you can take a break. Prices range from wow that's cheap to wow that's expensive but sooo cool. We spent money there and loved what we got and look forward to returning. Very nice owner and staff. Great store. More...

Me and my wife stopped in while visiting Des Moines this past weekend. I had watched their show when it was on TV and really liked it. As we were about to leave we saw the owner (Don) so I stopped to say hi and that I enjoyed the show. Don was so friendly, he even took us over to the shop and showed us the stuff that they were currently building. It was so nice to meet Don and how he went above and beyond, I expected to talk for a minute but he made it a memorable visit. More...

And explained the layout. I was then left to explore at my leisure with drink in hand. This place is amazing! So much to see and dream how it would fit in at home. When arriving we were met by an employee. He listened to what we were interested in finding! He escorted us up to the 4th floor and took us to the area for the salvage hunt of floor trim and window headers! He didn't stop there, he helped us dig. After a half hour we found our treasures! We are very pleased with our find. West End Salvage is a very organized store and I would recommend it for any unique find! More...

This place is always so fun to look through. The vintage Santa Clause was perfect for the season. My husband really enjoyed the old pictures of Des Moines and blue prints of an airplane we found. The history in the items just makes it all so amazing. There's also some not so old great things - like a giant Infinity car logo. If only they had other car logos! Will have to come back and see.
