Shauna is an excellent resource in the dog-lover community!  She has taught my family and me how to communicate with our dogs.  She is 100% positive reinforement focused and really knows her stuff!  Yes, she is an amazing dog trainer.  She is also an amazing human trainer!  She teaches humans how to train their own dogs (which is the only sustainable method in my opinion).  Her approach is individualized to the human-canine pair she is working with.  I cannot rave enough about Shauna and my experiences with Wagging Tails training! ‍ More...

Shauna is amazing! She really helped Miss Luna work on her bravery skills. The first session, Luna had to be carried through the door and she wouldn't even let Shauna come near her or me. . however Shauna was extremely patient and helped me (as Luna's person) with certain tools to set Luna up for success. By the final session (and a lot of work at home) Luna jumped out of the car walked straight up to the door sat on command and waiting patiently for Shauna to open the door! I would highly recommend Shauna if you have a timid dog such as Miss Luna! Not only is she very patient but she has excellent recommendations that are tailored to your FurBaby. Example of Luna's progress:  Luna was TERRIFIED of balloons but using to tools Shauna recommended, on her 1st Birthday she had the courage to sit right next to her HBD balloon! Thank you Shauna! I needed someone to help me teach the basics to my 5 month old German Shepherd. Over four weeks Shauna taught me how to teach him vital foundational skills; sit, stay, come, down, leave it, take it, drop it and leash walking skills. I now know how to communicate with him and our bond has grown stronger. Shauna also provided guidance on treats, toys, and grooming. Coby made progress in leaps and bounds during his one on one training sessions and it was exactly what we needed to help him become the best family dog he can be. I plan on enrolling him in a group session as well to challenge and further develops his skills. More...

This review is long overdue. I originally contacted Shauna last March to enroll my recently adopted 1 year old pup, Bennie, in a beginner training class. I took Bennie to his first class at the park in Brentwood and he was terrified. Shauna immediately recognized his anxiety and gave me some tips to try to make him a bit more comfortable and some treats that may get him motivated to work. After two more classes, it became apparent that Bennie was too nervous to work in the noisy park. Shauna offered 4 private classes for free with the hopes that Bennie would be comfortable enough in a quieter and more distraction-free location. Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out that way. Instead, Shauna has spent the past year having bi-weekly check ins with me and Bennie, just working to make Bennie more comfortable in uncomfortable situations. She has done endless research on ways to bring my pup out of his shell and we have found a few products and techniques that have worked wonders for him. When her most recent class started up at Pet Food Express, she offered Bennie a spot in the class, at the very least to get him some more exposure to uncomfortable situations (including loud dogs and scary smells). This past week was test week and despite all of our doubts, Bennie was able to perform most of the designated tasks and pass his beginner obedience course! All in all, I am so glad Shauna was the trainer I decided to reach out to. She and her husband, Tim, have been more than generous with their time and efforts to help Bennie. Shauna is a selfless and knowledgeable trainer who wants nothing but the best for your dog and will do everything in her power to help them. A lot to say about wagging tails training. I brought my 5 month old corgi to class for beginner course. Due to the poor weather condition outside, so they held the class inside the local Pet Food Express. Sometimes I even forgot that I was in a store lol. The class had about 10 owners and their variety of dogs. The class was once a week. You are given the tools you need to train them at there as well as at home. Shauna and her husband Tim were very professional trainers. They gave each dog personal care and spotlight as needed. They are able to identify any problems and come up with every solution along with examples. They aren't perfect but towards the end of the course, every dog sat still and not jumping all over the place. You could tell that these trainer are very passionate about dogs and love their job being able to handle even the most stubborn dog. GREAT JOB!!!! Would rate 10 stars if possible More...

They answered all of our questions and gave everybody one on one time. Shauna has great knowledge and excellent resources. We even asked her about dog health insurance :) She also helped me after class with other dog related stuff, like collars , treats and how to keep the dog in the back of the SUV ! One huge thing she did was offer to see us one on one with Winston after a bite incident...We were on the verge of re-homing Winston, when I contacted Shauna for advice. She reassured us that Winston was a great dog and that we needed to go back to basics with him. We met her at her classroom and went over some great stuff. We learned that we were playing a game with Winston that encouraged unwanted behavior. She also offered a class for my grand kids, on learning how to greet a dog properly (Shauna is so down to earth very warm and personal...I would call her a trainer and a friend). I took a rescue dog I'm considering adopting to Shauna because I had some concerns about his timidness and anxiety, and I was interested in obedience training for him.  Shauna spent over an hour with us & gave me lots of helpful advice (and I learned some very helpful things I didn't know about dog's "body language").  The end result was she said I should NOT enroll the dog in one of her obedience classes, and that while she would be happy to work with him in private sessions if I wanted to go that way, she really thought I could do the work with him myself.  She gave me clear advice on what to do - and what not to do - to solve his issues.   I left feeling very confident about Shauna's opinions and advice because it was obvious she knew what she was doing, and her focus was on what the dog needed, and not on upselling her services (which are reasonably priced, by the way).  I did subsequently sign up to take one of my other dogs to her group obedience classes, and will update my review when we complete the class. If you have a dog with behavioral issues, schedule an evaluation with Shauna at Wagging Tails, it will be worth every penny. We enrolled our puppy into Shauna's obedience class, to help train our puppy. It was very important to us to get our puppy trained because we have two children at home and desperately needed our puppy to have more manners, aka not jumping on people, knocking down kids, eating baby toys or anything that a puppy should not have, and chasing the cats. The training from Shauna's class helped our puppy became more manageable and obedient. Shauna also gave several tips and advise on how to manage puppy and children, which I am beyond grateful for because all of it has been so helpful. Sorry this review is a little late. But I had my dog Peanut Butter signed up for private training with Shauna. it really helped and I'm seeing small improvements with him as time goes on. Some things he has a bit of trouble with but I just have to be a bit more patient with him about them. Shauna is awesome and very helpful and really helped bring Peanut out of his shell. The issues I initially had with Peanut was his nervous/reactive barking at other animals and people. Now when I walk him, he only whines a little at people who approach. He still barks sometimes if a person is wearing an odd piece of clothing (like using an umbrella, or wheelchair), but I can calm him down or distract him a lot faster now than before and is now teaching him that certain items aren't scary. When we walk by other dogs, sometimes he'll give a quick whine or not even acknowledge the dog.The other day I dropped him off at the Doggie Daycare and we were in a lobby with a Pitbull. He didn't even notice the Pitbull and when he did, he just gave a small whine and then went about his business. Later that day when I picked him up, the staff stated that he played with 2 Pitbulls as well as other little dogs. They did say he has a little people anxiety still but they felt his anxiety with dogs is completely almost gone.Thank you so much Shauna. I feel a lot more confident walking Peanut. I still have to teach him the things you taught me and be patient about it; but I know in the end he'll be a happier and less nervous dog if I'm dedicated enough! And for those who sign up for outside Private Training....Yes, there is Pokestops! Q&As

I really enjoy when I see that connection between dog and owner really take hold in their communication.

I've worked with animals for over 30 years and it's usually been for someone else. I really got tired working for companies that were more concerned with the "bottom line" and not the customer and their dogs. Training is so important and it needs to be done with understanding and care for the dog and human.

I believe that each person and dog is unique and special. I don't think that cookie cutter training benefits anyone. I like being able to adapt what I do to each individual. Even in my group classes, I will work a bit of one on one to make sure no one is getting left behind.
