What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
“ The click of the shutter is not the first step in the process of building an image. Nor is it the last.
My creative process is hardly ever linear, and sometimes begins while I listen to a song; Sometimes it's a phrase from a book I read in the morning. The story of a stranger in a bar. The time I drove 35 minutes to sit alone on the sand to watch the surfers. The insomnia that made me go for a walk at midnight. A colour. A movie. The night I heard a loud noise and decided to turn off all the lights in the house.
Sometimes art is passion, sometimes fear. There is no greater gauge than the fact that it makes me feel something. And hopefully, it makes someone else feel something too.”
What do you love most about your job?
Being able to enter someone's world through art.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to create an experience that went beyond just a pretty picture. Some of my old photography clients ended up becoming friends, business partners, creative inspiration. Connection is what I enjoy the most about portraiture and having my own business allows me to do it for my soul and not only for the money.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am passionate about what I do. I romanticize my life and my job, because for me is way more than just the "click" of the shutter. I collect each photo as if it came with an invisible story stamped on it. A compact version of a life experience; from the time I scraped my knees climbing some stones, or when I damaged the camera crossing a river, from when one of the girls’ story made a knot in my throat. From that moment that reminded me why I do what I do.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Prints can be purchased remotely.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We are committed to provide a safe experience for our customers. We are blessed to live in such a magical land that offers the opportunity to create an outdoor experience where we are able to keep distance from each other while still making art. I also wear a mask during the whole session.
Weddings
From the intimacy of the bride’s bedroom, to the ceremony, the reception, or the “trash the dress” on top of a mountain, or perhaps swimming in a lake, or waking up to a beautiful sunset in Haleakalā volcano. We want to be the reason you smile when you look at your albums 20 years from now; because a picture is never JUST a picture.
Family Sessions
Forget about the “Say cheeeeese”. We play, we dance, we make it weird! (And fun). Our sessions are designed to make you have a good time, and while you are doing that, create some art to remember it. Let us be part of your adventure!
Business Photography
Are your clients getting the image you are trying to project? In a world where we are able to find so much content, so many talented people and professional brands in seconds, you need to stand out, and I can help you with that. Take a look at my work, which ranges from dentists to athletes, fashion models, dancers or chefs. I'm passionate about people, and about teaming up with dreamers, putting themselves out there to expand their market through art.
Bare Idea Series (Artistic Nudes)
“Multiple artists throughout history have used nudes in their works as a form of expression, protest, or addressing issues such as morality, beauty, eroticism, femininity and even mythology and religion.
Nudity to me, is a metaphor for what we perceive as individual or universal, for what is sensitive, secret, for what we decide to tell the world about ourselves or not. Our body is so intimate and sacred that we create cultural norms about how to dress it, move it, feed it, protect it, and display it. And yet so universal, that it is the reason for the existence of all living beings on earth.
This photographic series is inspired by that universality. Naked bodies stripped of beliefs, expectations, and preconceptions. The subjects, therefore, are ordinary and brave people, who decided to show their bodies as pieces of an ecosystem and leave their most vulnerable aspect reflected in art.”
