First off, I'd like to start off by saying that San Diego Fitness has vibes like no other. Music playing in the background is great, every staff member/trainer is super friendly, and their equipment is top notch. Not to mention, they are super clean! Outdoor turf area is a huge plus and the two separated workout spaces makes it that much better. Now, I'd like to get to Jonathan Uphoff and Wes Lauer. The guys are stand up guys. Incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and clearly experienced in their field. They do a great job at San Diego Fitness, and now post COVID, for those that are trying to get back into their workout routine and like working with someone who will motivate them and make them better, this is the place!! Hannah Doughty- My first experience lifting was with Hannah, and I could not have asked for a better introduction. She came up with several detailed plans for me to choose from to suit my specific goals and schedule. She gave me thoughtful advice on everything I asked about that would affect my training goals, from nutrition to number of sets and even sleep. Furthermore, Hannah is one of the most encouraging and inspiring people I have met, period. She is not just well-versed on the technical details of physical training, she is a gifted coach. It's easy to forget how important this is, especially when you are glancing through different businesses and don't really know the trainers you're considering. But a training plan is only valuable as long as you engage with it, and Hannah has the passion and care to keep you moving toward your goals. I cannot recommend Hannah enough as a physical trainer. She is deeply knowledgable, inspiring, sensitive to her trainees needs, and an all-around fantastic girl. I haven't checked out any other trainers, but I have no desire to after my experience with Hannah. It was my first time working with a personal trainer to learn about how eat healthier and workout properly. Anthony provided some great insights on how to eat the right foods and on how to work different muscle groups correctly. He's also an easy person to chat with and truly invested in improving your personal health. I am writing this long overdue review of this Personal Fitness Training Studio. Wes my trainer for the past 18 months is the best that I've had, he provides constant encouragement and is highly motivational. I keep every appointment and make an attempt to come early and do cardio. I truly enjoy working with Wes and I have gotten great results with his weight training, cardio, and diet program. Losing 12lbs, down to 15% body fat from 22%, going back to a size 32 waist. Wes corrects my workout form (I am not that coordinated at times and he is very patient and kind) during provides a safe workout space and knock on wood I have never been injured while training with him. Bottom-line if you want results and are serious about changing your body and lifestyle (diet included), this is the Personal Training Fitness Studio for you. He also offers an online training format. They are also constantly improving the gym and adding new services such as massage therapy and yoga truly a one stop shop for all your fitness needs. More...

Can't say enough good things about Anthony! He is incredibly knowledgeable, and it's clear that he cares about his clients. He created a specific work out plan for me at each session and also addressed my nutrition along the way so I could see maximum gains. I'm real grateful I've met Anthony, and recently he's helped me A LOT improve my core, back and arm strength. I Highly recommend him, if you're looking for a GREAT personal trainer! I had the pleasure of doing 8 partner training sessions with Anthony and my girlfriend earlier this year. We really enjoyed working out with him and learned a lot in the process. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and has an easy-going friendly and motivating attitude. He was able to train both of us at the same time despite our different workout goals, and was easy to schedule sessions with. We always got the full length of training time, and never had to wait around for him like I've had to do with other trainers. He gave us a lot of nutritional advice as well in the form of emails, and also gave me a workout routine in the form of an Excel spreadsheet that I still use on my own half a year later.Thanks a lot Anthony! Probably one of the best trainers. His workouts are intense and provide great results. Before my brothers wedding, my girlfriend and I decided to get a personal trainer. I saw results in one month and received many compliments!

I had been "stuck" with trainers before that didn't work for me for whatever reason. I bought a Groupon which lead me to Anthony. I explained to him my physical and health issues to which he said "No problem." On top of that I'm over 50 so there is another challenge. I worked with Anthony for about year when I had to stop for health reasons. Even though he didn't have to he checked in on me and was available when I was able to come back. Anthony knew when to push me and when to back off. He has an affable personality which makes working out actually enjoyable. Anthony truly wants you to achieve your goals and will work hard to help you get there. I would still be working out with him if he hadn't moved...I haven't even looked for a new trainer because I was lucky in finding him. He loves what he does and you find yourself loving it too. I've been training with Anthony for 2 years and he is hands down the best personal trainer I've ever had. First off, he truly cares about you as a person, not just as a client. This is huge in my book because it helps me form a personal connection as well as feel super comfortable around him. Being a female I usually stuck with female trainers in the past, but once I started training with Anthony my fears of having a male trainer immediately went away! He is so kind and compassionate, but also knows how to crack a whip when I need it.

Anthony caters his training style to each individual he works with, and also each session. He is the best at critiquing my form if necessary, and he has the knowledge to back it. He also can see If I start slowing down during a workout, he won't let me give up! He is very encouraging and pushes me hard to power through each and every rep, then gives me a celebratory high five afterward :) I love that he gets as excited as I do when hitting a personal record or reaching a new goal! If you're looking for someone who can relate to you and push you to be your best self, or even just looking for someone to show you how to start getting healthier, Anthony is that person!!

I had never tried personally training before, and wanted to try it out and found a random deal which lead to Anthony. I was with him for 3 years after that. He is not only professional but became one of my good friends. I trained twice a week and he also gave me advice on nutrition and supplemental cardio. I bounced ideas off him all the time and if he didn't know he would do some research and get back to me. I always looked forward to our sessions which is what my original goal was, to be excited to work out instead of feeling like it was a chore. I am sad to see him go, but he has opened my eyes to the benefits of personal training and I am continuing with a trainer in AZ. Good luck in SD Anthony! More...

I started working with Anthony, after finding him on Groupon is Scottsdale, AZ. I had just gotten over a very long struggle with ankle surgery. I needed help to get my strength back, it had been eight months with either a cast or a boot. I had never been to any kind of a trainer prior, but felt I really needed someone to help push me with the right exercises to strengthen the right areas of my ankle. I am over 50 years old and was very reluctant at first to go to such a gym but Anthony made me feel like there was no one else really around and he really Tailored the exercises to what I could do always making sure that I was not going to hurt myself. That was over two years ago I enjoyed working with Anthony so much I decided to stay on and it's a good thing that I did. We started to notice that I was having problems with my back. It seem like every session it was one side of my back or the other if that was hurting so we start with the weights and working in a rehab hospital I went and made an appointment with the sports medicine and find physician who ordered an MRI come to find out I had two bulging disks. Thank goodness for the patients of Anthony. We would start with stretching me out prior to each session.   I had a pinched  nerve in my left hip and had two epidurals to help get the nerve back in place. Anthony changed my routine and said that I should not lift any weights or put unnecessary weight on my shoulders that would impact  my spine more. Always with a smile not to make me feel embarrassed because my routine was probably something that a 12-year-old could do. So needless to say I'm now on my own but I have a good routine. I think anybody that would pass up an opportunity to work with Anthony would really be missing out . What a great sense of humor very personable,  listens to you and understands that not everyone is the same. And I hope that you give him the chance to help you be your best. I will always have "2more" resonate in my head as I do my circuit. For some reason I was always 2 off and he would always tell me 2 more Kat 2 more!! More...

I originally came in on a Groupon to train with Anthony for a couple sessions, and I loved his training style and personality so much I decided to continue training with him two times a week! I was amazed at how quickly I started seeing results and how much energy I gained from these workouts. Anthony also has a plethora of info on how to incorporate a healthy diet into your routine for quicker results. I think whatever level you are at you will enjoy working with him. He's great at tweaking the workouts to accommodate anyone, and has a very open mind and is just overall enjoyable to converse with (which makes the hard parts of the workout easier to push through!). I love the personal training and the help with meal planning I get at San Diego Fitness. It's that all-around support and the specific things my trainer tells me I can do. And what I'm doing right! I don't have to stick to some stiff, workout routine and meal schedule. I can now mix my exercises up to keep them interesting, and how they work best in my crazy schedule. I've been working out with my personal trainer and coming to San Diego Fitness for 7 months. I absolutely feel great and my routine isn't too hard to keep up with. Definitely the best private training place in San Diego. A variety of good exercise machines and cool equipment I hadn't used before, and at least 4 or 5 private training areas. SD Fitness is the first gym I’ve felt really comfortable at. It is never crowded with big bulky sweaty people to intimidate you. I am always surrounded by supportive trainers who push me to do my best at my own skill level. The facilities are great here. You have personal bathrooms, lockers, and there is ample space for you to work out in. I've been a fitness buff for almost 30 years and, when I moved to San Diego, I looked for a new gym for about 2 weeks before settling on San Diego Fitness. The fact is that they have everything I need to get an excellent workout and the staff is not only knowledgeable but extremely helpful and friendly. I work out on my own but, even after all these years, the trainers there were able to point out some things that I could improve and I'm grateful for that. My attention to detail and really focusing on what the client wants out of personal training vs. what I think they need. Many trainers lose focus of what clients goals are and what they originally came to them for. I continually remain focused on what the client is trying to accomplish with personal training. I'm also big on habit creation. Most of us realize that to lose weight we need to "move more eat less"....implementing this simplicity is the real challenge and we will delve into the psychology of habit change during our sessions and how to overcome bad habits.
