For our wedding, the thing that mattered to us the most was photos: something beautiful and tangible to look at and reflect on the most important day of our lives. From the first early morning moment at the hair salon to the very last minute when the DJ was packing up and every hour in between, Kevin Thompson was there. But Kevin wasn’t just a body, or another guest, or even a photographer. Kevin was an artist. Sure, we have the token “I do” picture, photos of the bridal party, and everyone dancing their butts off. But Kevin captured moments we never even anticipated. He took the time to pay attention; he watched people and read the room. He documented feeling and emotion, not just scenes. He gave us pictures that are truly priceless, not just for ourselves and our family, but even for our guests. And yet, as I think back on my wedding day, I cannot remember seeing Kevin. There are some pictures that I look at and think “I don’t remember Kevin standing there to take this” or “how did he get that without me even knowing?” I don’t remember him running around trying to get the best shot. I don’t remember him taking up too much room on the dance floor. I don’t remember him getting in the way of any wedding proceedings.What I do remember is how completely relaxed I felt. I am a self-proclaimed control freak, wedding-crazed women, and amateur photographer. Yet, from the first minute Kevin was on location, I was able to let go. I had complete confidence in his ability to get the shot and all the shots that I could have wanted. Kevin took pictures behind the scenes, around the scenes, and in the scene. He directed the posed photos with such polished professionalism. He exceeded any expectation I had of a wedding photographer. Kevin afforded us the most opportunity to enjoy our newly-bestowed titles of man and wife in a way that felt exclusive and private regardless of the fact that he was there too. He blurred himself into the background of our day, while also being immediately available to us when we needed him. I could not be happier with my decision to have Kevin Thompson photograph our wedding. Kevin has literally photographed our entire relationship. The night of our first date, Kevin was out taking photos at local establishments, and captured our very first photo! Since then he has been there to document all the important moments in our lives, birthdays, holidays, graduations, the list goes on and on. When we decided to have our wedding in Mexico, There was no doubt in our minds, that Kevin MUST be our photographer. It was the best decision I ever made. (besides marrying my husband) I look back at our wedding and not only do I have the "traditional" wedding photographs, but I have photos documenting an entire weekend, of family, friends and all of the amazing activities, funny moments and mishaps that I can reflect on anytime. Kevin is an outstanding photographer, but even more so, a wonderful person. Many photographers claim to go above and beyond, but Kevin? No one goes above and beyond like Kevin. Kevin came to our rehearsal to make sure he had time to speak with the priest and get a good view of the church before hand. He stayed and made sure we got the sparkler picture we talked about - and took his time with everything. He finished our pictures quickly and walked us through how to download them and share them with friends. He just was exactly what we wanted from a photographer - professional and personal attention.He gave us so many pictures that we are absolutely in love with. I posted a few of my favorites below. It was so hard to pick just a few because they were all outstanding.Throughout the entire day, Kevin made everyone feel comfortable and beautiful. He made us laugh. We had so much fun and it was so low stress. He has great ideas and is super willing to try fun, new ideas. I can't say enough amazing things about Kevin and his work.
