Not very many restaurants have earned the 5-star Yelp rating. This was our first date night ever since COVID hit. We were impressed that the tables were separated so a few diners can eat inside while others can brave eating outdoors with the heater. Needless to say we opted to eat indoors. There were only four other couples in the restaurant, each at their designated corners. We felt cozy, but socially distant from others.You grab a table and when ready place your order up front. Â We decided to start off with the fried calamari for an appetizer. The first bite I knew that this restaurant was not going to disappoint. Fried to perfection and seasoned "just right" I could hardly wait to taste the main dish. I had the traditional Union Burger with a side salad. OMG...one of the best burgers I've ever eaten! It's like eating Kobe beef for the first time in Japan. Words cannot describe the experience, you just have to try it out yourself. It's no wonder that the Union continues to get 5-star ratings from its customers! Oh let's not forget the Moscow Mule that paired well with my meal.Also, we can't overlook the friendly and amazing staff. They take real pride in the quality of the food and come to ask you for your feedback. Most cases people and then they leave and move on to the next customers. The atmosphere here is different. It reminds me of the small mom and pop establishments where they get to know their customers and encourage them to come back to dine with them again. Found this place in downtown Mclean in the middle of early Covad times and have really enjoyed. They have a simple menu with tasty, fresh dishes you order at the counter and they bring food to your cable. Where the concept is casual, the food is high end . I came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Plenty of outdoor seatings. I really enjoyed the food and service here. The burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. The beef patty was super juicy and flavorful, the bacon was thick and crispy. Definitely way better than shake shack!!! My boyfriend ordered the shrimp poboy and he liked it too. But we all agree that the union burger is the best we've ever had. The salad was really good too. We love the portions of the food here, the burger was huge, the fries were of large portions as well. The food here is fantastic, and the staff are amazing. They do a fantastic job with carry-out meals as well. Everything is well packed to-go to prevent various items from getting soggy, and all of the containers are even labeled with what's inside. I highly recommend checking this place out! So happy to have found this restaurant to add to our Covid takeout rotation...and looking forward to when we can go and sit down to dine in person! Because of the reviews, 3 of the 4 of us chose the Union Burger, and we were very happy with our choice! Perfectly cooked, delicious bun, and even the condiments were stacked perfectly so that the burger wasn't a mangled mess for the last bite. That's an accomplishment in itself! So I have eaten at the union and done take away once. I had the the burger, literally the best burger I have had in years, bar none, and I love me a burger. I had the chicken pibil sandwich, snarfed that one down, omg so yummy and unexpected in it's warm spiciness. I took out the shrimp poboy, it's not a Nola po boy, but the size of the shrimp and the sauce is a winner. The fries are great, the lemonade is fabulous and made fresh at the bar. Really glad to have another option in McLean, where good places to eat are hard to come by. This is on the same street as our residence and we used a Groupon to find out about it. This place is wonderful! The food was fresh and delicious - I added steak to the grain bowl and it was tender and yummy, and my husband got the Asian Chicken salad, which had a great crunch and little kick. The kids loved the chicken tenders and fries (and we sneaked a few bites too) and the staff was super kind to them, even offering some coloring and cookies. They were incredibly nice and welcoming and we felt safe and spaced during COVID with the ample outdoor seating, although there was plenty of space inside as well. The best burger ever!!! Just ask Siri....it will come up as the "best burger in town". We also got the ricotta Parfait which is something I' ve never tasted before. Lunch at The Union was so yummy! My aunt, my cousin, and I were in town and each wanted different things. The Union has all of them. My aunt loved her shrimp po'boy, I loved my union burger, and my cousin loved her union cobb. Everything was made to order and I even had my burger cooked exactly how I like it--medium. In a little town with so many places to eat, I find there to be a short list of viable casual sit down options. Â After 1 visit, The Union now sits firmly atop my list. Â This is a place you can stop by alone and have a quick meal, take a meeting, take the kids, have a casual drink/dinner, whatever. Reviewing during COVID-19. Ordered takeout for Sunday and was underwhelmed. Nice concept to try to appeal to healthy food seekers but the food is not the healthiest. Burger was delicious, and so were the fries. Definitely the best thing my family ordered. Other than that, the salmon, red lentil soup, and yucca fries were nothing special. The Vietnamese chicken wings were also drenched in fish sauce. I love Vietnamese food and this was definitely a wrong take on both Vietnamese food and chicken wings. Ordering by phone was a breeze but picking up was a different story. My husband dealt with someone who couldn't really care less and was just going through the motions. I was looking for a place to meet a friend for lunch and found this gem. They are very serious about social distancing and following all health guidelines so right off the bat, I felt comfortable eating here. This is a REALLY nice addition to McLean, VA.  We have relatively few unique restaurants (a million pizza/Italian places) and this is definitely unique.  It is a rather limited menu but the options are appealing. The chef brought dishes from his past experience and they advertise as the best burger in McLean. I might agree that it's one of the best and I would say the accompanying fries are delicious and cooked to perfection in terms of flavor and crispness. This is a nice upgrade to Joe's burgers in McLean which NEVER really impressed me. The salads look delicious and fresh and the banana creme brûlée was definitely amazing.  They have local craft beers which was nice and a nice bar area if you want a burger and a beer ( hope they expand the number of craft beers). The atmosphere is bright, casual and open seating. The service was fantastic which is a real plus and hopefully it will continue.  They lack a specific theme in their menu that I can tell but it was a great experience and I hope the community will support them. Just visited for the first time and wanted to share my family's great experience. All of the food was fantastic and really well-prepared. .. including the chicken sandwich, burger sliders and kids chicken tenders and Mac & cheese. This is a hidden gem in McLean. We stopped by for a late lunch with the kids. The indoor dining area is clean and we saw employees sanitizing tables after other patrons left (there is also outside seating available). The menu isn't huge but features some unique and yummy selections (pulled chicken sandwich, vegetable banh mi). There is a kids menu (chicken fingers, Mac and cheese, grilled cheese) and a bar. The kids were provided with paper and markers for drawing, but they didn't have too much time to draw because the service was fast! I don't know what happened to my original review so I will try again. Â I ordered takeout Union burger - it was incredible. Â This is how incredible it was- due to covid, I ordered takeout, which isn't ideal especially for a burger and fries as they are best eaten immediately after they are cooked, but I really wanted a burger. Â It was a total hassle through no fault of the establishment- just difficult to eat a burger in your car trying to be careful washing your hands in your car, trying to put ketchup and mustard on your burger and I didn't think it through and didn't have anything to drink so ran over to Starbucks. Â I didn't get to eat that burger for 20 minutes after I picked it up. Â Anyway - that 20 minute old burger in my car was so delicious. Decided to check out The Union on a Monday night around 7pm and it did not disappoint! I'm not sure how lively this place gets, but we were the only people there. It's tucked away in the shopping center, so while it may be a little hard to find if you're not familiar with the area - it's definitely a good location in McLean. I came here with my family because it was one of the only places open when we were in town and were NOT disappointed! We had the burger, southwest salad and the chicken sandwich and WOW they were unbelievable. We finished off our meal with the banana creme brûlée, which I highly recommended.
