The drinks were great and it's a cute quiet little spot but the bartender was a bit unprofessional, taking shots with friends while we waited 10+ minutes for drinks. Would go again but it would of been perfect with someone slightly more attentive! More...

My experience at the Tillary started out terrible. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we went upstairs to the restaurant to eat while we waited. After an hour, we still hadn't received our food and went inside to check. The server dishonestly told us that the food was coming up the elevator as we spoke, but thirty minutes later we still had no food. We decided to cancel the order and leave the restaurant, when Andy (the front desk manager) overheard the situation and stepped in to help. He ended up upgrading our room to an amazing suite, gave us drink vouchers for the bar, and breakfast coupons! Andy really turned our stay around. Thank you! More...

Our room was very clean and we enjoyed the contemporary design throughout the hotel. There is a small cafe on the ground floor and a rooftop bar/patio on the second floor. We enjoyed the ability to get coffee in the morning at the cafe without having to leave the hotel. The staff was always helpful and accommodating to our needs. Good value. Only small issue would be noise ... I would suggest a quieter, slower door closure for the hotel rooms... It was also a bit loud as there's construction going on around the property currently... if traveling with kids I suggest packing a noise machine!About 10 min walk to subway. We would stay here again. More...

Thank you Hotel Tillary, my stay was great! Having stayed there for the last three weeks I got a pretty good overview of the whole place. And you did not disappoint. The staff was always accommodating and answered every question I had upon arrival. The hotel vibe/decoration was well thought out. I never once felt unsafe. My room was great. Spacious enough for a long stay. Yes, the shower had no door and does spray water onto the floor but it wasn't slippery because I used the mat...lol. And it was very little at that. Small fridge made it easy to shop and have some beverages/meals on hand. Keurig coffee maker made my morning brew easy. The bed was huge and super comfy. And my room was serviced and perfect each and everyday I arrived back from work. I stayed on the back side of the hotel so no real street noise. But you are in the city ! So not sure what you would expect otherwise. No restaurant but to be honest food delivery was easy door to door and why wouldn't you want to eat out! It's Brooklyn! And I heard a restaurant was coming, so I'll be back to check that out! The Secret Side Bar upstairs! The best! The staff there were so pleasant and always ready to chat and make a good drink for you! I looked forward to my after work evening cocktails! I also loved the Brooklyn snacks offered in room and at coffee bar. What a great way to promote actual Brooklyn based businesses. And the fitness center was just right for my needs and had enough equipment for just about anything and anyone! If I had one negative thing to say and really just a side note....the doors! They are quite heavy and they close loudly. So some nights if others had late nights that would wake you up. Thank you Hotel Tillary for making this stay so seamless for me. Really being away for so long... is well long! And you made it feel like home! More...

This hotel is pretty cool. I liked the art deco-like theme and the oversized board games in the lobby. The hallways on the way to the rooms could definitely do with better lighting; I get the whole mood lighting thing but this was kind of creepy. The staff were friendly and accommodating, although when I was checking in a large party was arriving and the staff was more focused on helping them (understandable). Also, I noticed that one of my towels had a hole in it and they forgot to give me a rag, but when I told the housekeeping lady she was totally nice about it.All in all, I had a good experience here, the price was reasonable and my room was nice. Stay at the Tillary Hotel in December 2018. Room 337 at the back of the hotel. + Positive points + Beautiful lobby Great location (near the Manhattan & Brooklyn bridge, 8min walk from Dekalb Av station with express metro line to Manhattan, easy for Uber, Lyft + bus lines) Welcoming staff Nice room, well equipped and big comfy bed ! Affordable Afropunk Brooklyn : the Commodore park is at a walking distance from the hotel - Negative points - I wouldn't recommend this hotel for winter stays : I'm usually not sensitive to cold but the rooms are below the normal temperature and it's impossible to adjust. Always in my bed when I was in the room. Better for warmer months : there are 2 beautiful and well equipped terraces. Poorly isolated from noise and from the outside : cold, you can hear neighbours talking, noise of the street (but I was at the back of the hotel, it's lower). Be aware that there will be $75 fee or guaranty/night charged on your credit card (refundable after your stay). There's no mention of it anywhere, even if the booking was done on the hotel's website (no general conditions sent to the customer, which is practically illegal on an e-commerce standpoint). It is only mentioned verbally during the check-in. And when you're asking questions about the fees, no-one feels confortable talking about them There's also a resort fee for 2 bottle of water/coffee-tea in your room, access to "the business center", for the complementary wi-fi, access to the gym that isn't included when you're doing your booking via third party website (hotels.com, booking.com,...) No brush in the toilets. The shower is badly designed : there will be water everywhere. No restauration at the hotel. More...

Just not sure where to start, made a reservation through the hotel website directly, received multiple confirmations and even a phone confirmation when I called the day prior to my arrival to confirm my suite. I get to the hotel and they tell me they don't have a room for me and there was a glitch in the system. After standing at the from desk for over 40 minutes with no one giving me an answer besides "we are working on it" ... she finally came back and said "we can give you a room but not a suite" ... fast forward after I pretty much yelled, they "FOUND" me a suite and were able to accommodate me. Staff at the whiskey bar was unhappy and wouldn't honor our free drink tickets that were given to us in lieu of the room mishap. Never again. This is an update from my original review. After this review and reaching out the hotel, we were accommodated more than graciously by the hotel manager, he did a more than exceptional job at making sure we were taken care of and happy. On top of that the staff this time around was so much better and we left feeling pleased. We will definitely be staying here again, due to the hospitality provided by the hotel manager, it has now become the hotel of choice while in the area. More...

I love a good paint & sip but this henny and paint night at the Tillary hotel for Columbus day weekend was super lit!! Hence the term "henny & paint the super lit edition". The tillary hotel is located right on Flatbush Ave and easy to get to by public transportation. My review isn't of the actual hotel itself but my experience of an event that I attended. There's a bar upstairs with outside seating that's super cute, small but chic. The front desk staff was friendly & welcoming as well. The event was located on the lower level in the basement which you had to take the elevator to get to and the rug in elevator made me smile. Being born & raised in Brooklyn, us Brooklynites rep our borough like no other. The theme of the night was from a famous lyric from a Jay-z song (oceans) stating, "The only Christopher we acknowledge is Wallace"Did Christopher Columbus really discover America? Anyway we'll save that discussion for another day....The venue was nice & accommodating, the event was well organized, the drinks were flowing, the music was popping and it was an incredible event. I had a blast!! More...

I don't understand the bad reviews. We just spent 5 nights here and we had an amazing time! The staff was friendly and accommodated an early check in since we got on a red eye. We truly appreciated that. The drinks at the bar on the 2nd floor were good and affordable. Plus they have some family style games for you to play. Super cute. If you've been to New York before then you know the lodging is never really spacious. So I didn't expect too much. But we still fit comfortably in our room and had some of the best sleep ever!! Literally 10 hours, the beds were great. We were in town for the VMAS and it was a quick 12 minute Uber to the radio city hall. It was also super convenient getting into Manhattan on the subway (2 stops) which was our primary transportation the other days. It's also a 10 minute walk to dumbo brooklyn which is a site to see. We had a blast. Will definitely recommend to anyone. More...

My partner and I chose the Tillary Hotel for ourselves and our guests for our wedding in DUMBO. We found the hotel to be comfortable and clean and the staff were kind and accommodating. The second floor bar and outdoor area was a great spot to relax before and in between events. While there is not much going on in the surrounding area, it was a quick walk or Lyft from downtown Brooklyn and our wedding festivities in DUMBO. Easy access to the Manhattan Bridge and the BQE for those that were driving. Would definitely recommend the Tillary if you are visiting the area or need a wedding hotel in Brooklyn. More...

Really great hotel staffed by nice people. Cool, stylish place that still feels comfortable and relaxed. Also, it seems to be owned and staffed by very diverse people which is excellent. Even the little coffee shop in the lobby is delicious. Only complaint is the walls and windows are a little thin, especially if you have a room looking out onto Flatbush. But that kinda comes with the nyc territory. It does seem that there are some homeless folks staying here as other reviews noted, but so what? They're all very nice and keep to themselves and behave just like any other guest. And good for them for getting the chance to sleep somewhere nice for a change. Also, great gym in the basement! Honestly not a bad hotel at all, even though we only stayed for 1 night! The only downside we experienced is that since our room was facing the street, it made the quality of sleep a bit challenging because of outside traffic noise (ie. Trucks, aggressive driving). Other than that, the staff never bothered us, neither did other guests surprisingly, considering we came pretty close to the weekend, and although the bathroom situation (wall dividing the bathroom to the room) seemed a bit of an odd thing in terms of construction placement, the room seemed very chic and we enjoyed our stay to say the least despite a lot of people stating that the walls seemed paper thin.
