We celebrated my daughter's graduation from ECU with family on Saturday with a private buffet. Everything was ready at our reserved time. The food couldn't have been any better. Service was excellent! Staff was very attentive to our guests. I would say our dinner was perfect! I would recommend to anyone looking a private party setup. The Hersey Bar Cake and Strawberry Short Cake were great additions to the menu. Can't decide which meat was better. Fried Chicken, BBQ Chicken or Hamburger Steak in gravy. Awesome Food! More...

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday morning and ordered some breakfast. I came in before the breakfast buffet was set up so I ordered a plate of food. The food was good. I ordered a cheese biscuit with some grits, ham, and cheese eggs. The food came out quickly and was really good. The cost for the food was good as well. I wasn't impressed with the service as much but it wasn't horrible. I would visit again when in the area. I do regret not getting a piece of cake before heading out as the cakes looked so good. Recently reserved their banquet room for a post funeral meal with family and friends of 25 plus people. Jessica and staff were amazing in the way they attended to us and made the event a wonderfully memorable occasion. The food was excellent and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to host the event. Would definitely recommend this place for a meal at the restaurant or to use the banquet room. And will definitely visit them often when back in town. Thank you Seahorse! More...

The BBQ chicken plate is amazing. Even the new girl in training was good . We took our food to go as usual but this time was different . The baked potatoes were not wrapped in anything , instead they were put in a PAPER bag. The containers with the sauce spilled in the bottom of the bag thus leaving a sloppy mess. Please take the time to care for the food leaving your restaurant. More...

My wife and I went for the first time and we were not disappointed at all. My wife got the Prime Rib (served on Saturday nights) and I got the 12oz Ribeye. Her Prime Rib was drenched in its cooking juices and was very good but my Ribeye was the BEST I ever had in my life. It was the most tender piece of meat that could of almost been cut with a fork. I ordered it medium rare and it came out perfectly with a warm red center. We both got a trip to the salad bar that was outstanding and fresh. She got mashed potatoes and I had French fries. Both of those were very good. Hush puppies and bread came with the meal and both are fantastic....we especially like the fresh warm hush puppies!! I ended my meal with Strawberry cake with cream cheese icing, yum! Can't wait to go back again and again and again lol. More...

First time visit.. due to a coupon! We order an appetizer...shrimp & crab dip with pita chips... we put our order in for steaks (his medium-rare, mine well-done). Well the cooks lost our ticket for the appetizer & no one realized til our steaks were done... so we just took our steaks... cut into them & there weren’t cook to par! Mine was medium-rare, his was medium..... so they took them back.. brought them back out! And let’s just say..j yes it started out not so good! But that steak!!! Was so tasteful!!! The flavor was amazing!!! I’m a big A1 person! But this steak didn’t need no A1!! It was amazing but it!!! To apologize for the mix up with the appetizer, they gave us a free piece of cake! And it looks amazing!!! We will be back! More...

My wife had the fried shrimp and crab cakes. All were delicious with the cocktail sauce. She also had the mashed potatoes and they were cold as well. Im sure this was due eating there late and the cook probably prepared the mashed potatoes before the other items we ordered were done. Our server was a very pleasant lady. We were also visited by the owner (I assumed) and he was very conscience of our dinning experience. More...

This was my first time coming. My overall experience was great. The workers are extremely friendly. Absolute great service. Christian oriented which I love. The food was nice and hot (so were the plates). Overall the food was good. The seasoning was great on some things but then not great on others. I tried to taste everything and most was wonderful. The tea was not sweet however and I had to get something different. My favorite thing about my visit was the friendliness of the workers and my favorite food today was the chicken and pastry. I will be coming back and I recommend this place to others to try. The price is reasonable and includes beverage and dessert. Great. More...

Ate here with a group of friends- there were 6 of us total. 3 of the group had chicken, 1 had beef tips, 1 prime rib and oysters, and I had the crab cake bowl. The waitress was super friendly and checked on us often, bringing us bread and hush puppy refills twice. Our glasses never got close to empty as she refilled those often as well. The food was delicious, with the only complaint from our bunch was a friend ordered green beans as a side and said they weren't great. They have a salad bar available as a side for supper. My husband got that and was pleased. The price was good for the quality! Another awesome thing about this restaurant is they have a prayer on the menu and had klove (Christian music). We will eat here again if our travels bring us this way again! More...

This place is fantastic! We ordered steak and seafood plates to share. The seafood we ordered was fried but not heavily breaded and very tasty. The steak was so juicy and tender you could cut it with a fork! They had a fresh salad bar with lots of good veggies and fruit. The hush puppies were sweet! The tea was obviously made fresh also! They had a dessert case with several home made (from scratch) cakes and although we didn't order dessert (to full from dinner) the cakes looked amazing! The service was wonderful and everyone was friendly in this locally owned family type restaurant. We understand they also have some lunch and dinner specials on certain days. Will have to go back for dessert another time! Yum! More...

This place is like being at your best friends house. You come right in, you're able to relax, eat and enjoy company.  They may have instant potatoes, vegetables may or may not be canned. (I can't quite tell) Their tea taste a little strange (from the south, I'm picky about tea) but their shrimp and grits are a bowl of heaven. The shrimp is cooked perfectly.  The hush puppies are delicious. The steak....I cut it with a spoon!!! NO LIE!! The best steak we've had from any restaurant. I love small businesses, it's not perfect (neither are we) but they are doing an amazing job. I'll keep supporting them.  I can only hope to have homemade mashed potatoes from here one day. More...

This first part is an update. My original is below. This time we went for the lunch. Three for the buffet. Good , homey food. It is a limited choice but they are all tasty. There are places in town where you can get an extensive array of cheap food which is not worth eating. At the Seahorse you want every dish. No soup today, boo-hoo..I wanted to try their soup. But we all filled up mightily on the buffet. The four layer cakes looked so good, we took two selections home. Glad we did. The place is still a go-to.This is the original review: I too am confused by the few low reviews. I came because my son, a foodie, had a good experience at the Seahorse and wanted to share with the family. I come from a restaurant family and have owned a food service, my other son is an executive chef. We critique every restaurant meal we have. It's the family sport. I was asked how was my barbecued chicken, I responded by grasping the leg bone and showing that it would easily pull out of the meat. The sauce was nicely spicy and charred. We asked for one steak medium rare the other "Pittsburgh" which is charred quickly on both sides with the middle almost raw.  Although they had not heard the term, the restaurant chefs were able to produce a good Pittsburgh. Out of six meals. My sweet potato was perfectly cooked. The seafood all disappeared, no doggy bags. So it must have been good. Portion size was right. I couldn't sell even one of our six on a dessert. The people are friendly and they try to please you. The place is not pretentious. Prices are moderate. This is a good place. More...

We eat here one or more times a week.   The food is very good.  The desserts are excellent and the portions are quite large. I like the buffet with salad bar.  Usually it has two main entrees, two starches, three vegetables, biscuits, hush puppies, gravy and one or too others - smaller than many.  The salad bar has about 20 items (the usual) and 4-5 dressings.  It's not primarily a sea food restaurant, despite the name.  The atmosphere is good.  The strong Christian bent likely puts off non-Christians.
