Great food, drinks and service! I highly recommend this restaurant for your next night out.

We were here during Waterfire, a riverfront "festival" in Providence. The menu was greatly reduced to basically snacks. This was disappointing.

We booked a table for six on a WaterFire Saturday. They do not accept reservations after 545 pm - a bit early we thought but as we wanted a table outside adjacent to the water we decided to eat early. Sunset was not until 8 pm. It actually turned out to be perfect as it was still light and the music had not started, so conversation was easily possible. The Mediterranean menu is good for sharing. We ordered a selection of Arancini, nachos, two different salads, Tater Tod sliders, shrimp and chips; all washed down with several (8 I believe) glasses of wine and a beer. The food was tasty and good value. We took our time and were not rushed, which we appreciated. Our server, Kerrie Lynn, was cheerful and attentive. There are more upscale restaurants with better food in the area, but this was just right for an informal meal and setting before our gondola ride, once night had fallen, the music playing, the fires lit on the river, and the crowds milling around. Went to River Social for an early dinner after seeing it listed as "hot" (or was it "cool"?). Regardless,... it was!River's featured drink list is definitely cool. .. we each ordered a Salut and it was terrific! Sweet and cold and tasty! For a first takes, we tried two mezze plates: hummus and roasted eggplant that arrived with warm triangles of really delicious pita. My only wish would be for more pita. Next we shared a Greek flatbread pizza... great combination of olives, sun-dried tomatoes, roast red peppers, and a feta-cottage cheese mixture... very good! And for the finale, G had falafel and I had octopus. Both were excellent! More...

If you want a dining experience on the river, then make a reservation for dinner to sit outside. The menu is full of tasty treats! We enjoyed the gluten free chicken avocado pizza and the Mediterranean hot dogs to start. The pizza was drizzled with vinaigrette which just accentuated the chicken and avocado flavors. The Meze plate tower was delicious with fresh crunchy veges. The only thing that was better was "Joe" our server! He made the entire night a memorable one. The "B Social" drink is a must. Make a plan to spend a special night by the river enjoying the ambience of the River Social and their talented staff. More...

Such a nice place! Right near water place park, would be great for a night with the water fires going on. We went for brunch and it was great. They have a little of everything for brunch like waffles, French toast, eggs and home fries. They have some outdoor seating also. I can't wait to go back for dinner! More...

The River Social is located, well, on the river and conveniently located next to the Amtrak Station, Capital Building, and the Providence Place Mall. Our bartender Dante was a great guy and fun to talk to. We ordered the Filet mignon and a chicken salad and, boy oh boy, the steak was super tasty. It had leek puree, balsamic, and fresh pomegranate seeds. The pomegranate seeds made this a tasty and fun summery dish. We shall stop by the River Social again when the weather gets even better and there's events on the River.P.S. This place is pricey and the portions are small, albeit, delicious. More...

My husband and I stumbled across this place on our walk to see the Capitol building during our weekend getaway to Providence. We walked by and saw part of the restaurant doors open but a close sign so we asked when they will be open and they were very friendly and offer to serve us drinks until the kitchen is open for food at 5pm. The bartender/server was very friendly and sociable. He was straight forward and made great drinks. I had the seasonal sangria with watermelon. It was tasty and refreshing easy to drink. My husband ordered the Have Merci except the bartender made the Burbon Bravo instead which he was fine. We decided to order some small plates to share. We had the ahi tuna, shrimps and chips along with the forbidden rice. All the dishes were flavorful and yummy with each distinct taste and light too!Definitely would go back again when we are in town. More...

Stopped by this place for dinner and it was a pleasant surprise. We didn't go in expecting much but everything we tried was delicious! Definitely start with a nice cocktail and the mezze platter, our favorites were the spicy feta and eggplant dips. We also shared the falafel, arancini, and ahi tuna. It was plenty to feed 4 of us. For dessert they unfortunately ran out of the knead donut dish so we tried the chocolate mousse and baklava ice cream sandwich which were both great! The service was also exceptional. We will definitely be back again soon!! More...

Great spot for lunch by the water. I've been to the previous place, so the decor is similar. Food is remarkably different. Got the hummus which was very good with the zaatar seeds in them. The Turkish lentil soup and Greeks salad were decent (the lentils are puréed in the soup). Unsure about the saltines in the Greek salad. Lastly, got the chicken souvlaki which was quite tender and delicious with the fries. Overall good experience. They also have bottomless mimosas during brunch. More...

Came by on a Friday evening for a drink and some nibbles and had such a wonderful time. Overall: Everything was beautifully done, from the ambiance and decor to the drinks and food. The staff was warm and helpful as well, making me feel right at home. I loved the plant wall and lit up signs- very photogenic. Drinks: we tried the social butterfly and the hello habibi, both of which were not only beautiful but delicious. We had a hard time deciding in drinks since all of the cocktails sounded great, and based on this experience, I don't think you can go wrong with any choice.Food: we shared the grilled Spanish octopus (highly recommended by the server for good reason), ahi tuna and the tater-tot sliders. They were all presented creatively and tasted great, but my favorite was the octopus- I would go back for that alone. I can't wait to try some of their other dishes and dessert! More...

Wonderful brunch. Sunny seat beside the river. Warm staff and great background music. And it gets better from there. Bloody Mary, nicely spiced, and a flight of Mimosas, followed by a great Meal. The smoked salmon avocado toast was superb. And the Shakshouka (two eggs in a skillet with roasted tomatoes & onions topped with feta and herbs) was perfect. Instead of home fries, you can get tater tots on the side. Loved it. We're from Boston area so the prices seemed reasonable to us. Definitely recommend it. More...

This is definitely going to be my new go to spot in Providence. Visited for restaurant week so that I could try multiple things on the menu. The location is awesome right on the river where Water fire takes place. It's easy to get to and parking on the street nearby isn't bad at all. I loved the decoration inside especially the "let's meet here" sign and the lovely bar. Some of the seating is actually couches with comfy pillows - love that! I felt so at home and comfortable while eating my meal which is important to me. The service and staff were super friendly. I enjoyed the cocktails so much. I had the hello habibi to start which has gin, cucumber and raspberries, and pink peppercorns! We also shared a social bowl for the table between four of us later on. The bowls come out bubbling which was so fun. To eat, I loved the tater tot sliders and the octopus dish. A few people at the table had the fettuccine Bolognese which was really good too. I already can't wait to go back, definitely want to try the brunch out next! More...

This is a great new place. I didn't realize Quay was gone until I saw the sign for The River Social in its place, and I hope it sticks around! There is a great vibe here--the owner is young, interested in creating a good atmosphere, and dedicated to quality. The menu is mixed Mediterranean, influenced by all coastal areas: Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel. I saw spicy feta on the menu and swooned (the feta they use is Greek!) but oh man! The other dips! We got a sampler of all five meze dips -all made fresh in house- and the presentation was straight out of an Egyptian coffee house, and it lived up to its appearance! All the dips were delicious, it was hard to pick a favorite - I might say the yogurt...it reminded me of something my Persian friend used to make. Even though I was with a friend who opposes eating octopus, she consented to taste the one on their menu (from Spain), and she became a converted octopus fan. This is NOT a baby octopus...it was one of the closest renditions I've had in RI to an actual Mediterranean experience, I do recommend it! Not to mention the potatoes it's served with are A-MAZ-ING.Next we got Tater Tot Sliders, and these are no joke. They'd be perfect late-night, drunk food, but they're also good sober-evening food; note, a knife and fork are required for consumption. The tater tots themselves are homemade, and they don't taste super greasy or fried. We were planning to get a main dish, but those three filled us up! We did, however, opt for dessert. Unfortunately they weren't stocked with Knead that day (they have an awesome collaboration dessert with Knead donuts!) so we opted for chocolate mousse and a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream that comes with the Knead dessert. Two thumbs up.ALSO: This is a great place for GF options, and the cocktails list is impressive. They even have "bowls," cocktails for sharing, but with just two of us that night, it seemed like overkill. Looking forward to returning! More...

Welcome to the city! Was very happy to see another new place. The menu was interesting with a variety of options. Had the Falafel and octopus app! Falafels were some of the best I have had. Light and fluffy on the inside with a nice crisp crust! Served with a hummus though. I would change that up and maybe a taziki or labneh! . The octopus was well season. The side dish of potatoes, onions and olive made the dish. Bartender was excellent. Great service More...

This place is really hard to find. It is below 29 degrees with a strong wind. I almost gave up on trying to look for this place. Walking for a few minutes I managed to find it. I walked past the window and saw that it was very formal. I was going to turn around and go to TroopPVD. However, I figured I should just check it out. I would not be doing myself justice by not checking out the new spots opening in my city. I went in and told the manager who greeted me. Nicholas and Donte and were great. The environment is very harmonious. I thought I would hate this high class looking fancy place but it feels great to know that there are guys like Nick and Donte to make you feel that you don't have a Mercedes and Rolex to come here. I tried the Turkish Omelette with great mix of fillings: Baked Egg, Spinach, sour cream, ground beef, Chickpeas and tahini. It was filling and satisfying. For once, I was not left hungry for more. Customer service was an A+. I will leave this 4 stars now. I hope I get Nick and Donte again on my next visit. More...
