My dinner at the American Bistro was incredible and showed very nuanced attention to details that were second only to Garces ( iron chef winner) in Philadelphia. If you appreciate wonderful chefs I highly recommend the American Bistro. However, if you notice 4 reviews with a rating of 1, pay attention, they were written by 4 members of the same family all talking about the same night who walked into a 20-25 seat restaurant with 30 to 50 members and expected the restaurant to accommodate the wishes of their (admittedly demanding) grand father and my guess is THEY were too cheap to rent a caterer or his facilities. We really lucked out when we dropped into The New American Bistro to have dinner for our Anniversary. I had heard about it but didn't know I'd need reservations. Pat greeted us and asked if we had reservations. We told him we didn't. He told us they were full. Hearing it was our Anniversary, he asked us to wait a moment. We were seated almost immediately. Patrick took care of my husband and I as if we were regulars. The food was excellent. We both had the Lobster Bisque which was exceptional. A deliciously crisp, fresh mixed greens salad followed, love the beets in the salad. I ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the Seared scallops and shrimp with Wild Mushroom Risotto. The scallops were seared perfectly to almost melt in my mouth and the risotto was rich and tasty. Freshly grilled and steamed veggies finished the dish. My husband had the crab cakes with Lobster Sauce and was quite happy. We brought home chocolate mocha cake. Just OMG. I can't say enough about the service, the food or the restaurant itself. Don't know how we didn't find this place sooner! Staff is pleasant. Menu is varied, especially with such a large selection of specials. Be sure to take a pic of the special board when I come in bc u won't remember them all at the table. Crab and lobster bisques were delicious! Can't wait to go back and try more entrees. Good size portions. We were too full to try, but next time we'll save room for desserts that look so good in the case. Def not a cheap meal, but nice treat. More...

The food here is amazing! No matter what you order it will be great and fresh, everything is cooked to order! They make everything fresh themselves & even bake there own rolls and make a Smokey spread for them that is out of this world and very addictive! Sometimes the kitchen staff is tired, overwhelmed and lackluster. After enjoying wonderfully prepared food two times, we hit their wall the third visit. We were ready to say goodbye but couldn't. Went here with a large party for Father's day and this place was more than accommodating. This restaurant has a lot of great options with different specials all of the time. The shrimp and scallops weren't all that flavorful (only for one particular dish), but everything else was amazing. It's hard for "mom and pop" places like this to stay afloat with big corporations taking over the food industry, but this restaurant sure does know how to hold it's own. The bill can quickly add up, but I think it's worth it. This place is good for a date night, dinner with the family, or other special occasions. I definitely plan on coming back here again. More...

Had a great meal, pasta with crabmeat marinara. Can be pricey, especially the specials but portions are good and usually dishes are very tasty. I've been here at least 6-7 times and only had one bad experience with the food. I agree with some reviews that the tv and couch set up are "different" but it has a certain charm. I like how they will change up a dish for you. Never give more rolls and have a herbed butter that is a little strong. Overall I always enjoy my meals and the fact that it is a byob.
