Great place! Was visiting Bryant from out of town, needed a one day pass, place is clean, affordable and has everything you would need to work out. Will definitely return. Gym is large. More...

I have been a member of a couple gyms, previous to Maxx; Bally's being the first and Gold's gym, after that. I find Maxx to be very spacious and professional! Lots of cardio machines and a very large weight area, I have no complaints! The climate there is of very focused and serious, business.       The customer service complaints can be said for any gym! It works for me and I do like it. More...

I've been coming to this gym for 2 years, not that you can tell. The place is clean, although I do see a couple "I'm too cool" to wipe down my bench after using it guys strutting their nasty butts around. There are ample machines at the times that I go, but prime time  (before 9am and after 5pm) it can get a little tough. They offer many classes, zumba is always great. As well as a cinema room with a few machines in it. Parking is plenty and the tanning beds do their job. They offer personal training for an arm and a leg so I opt not to use that option. They continue to add new pieces of equipment which is great except it's now taking up the free space that many use for stretching and floor excersizes. The staff members have been upgraded since when I started going. Thank goodness, no one likes a brooding, unfriendly greeter. At this point in time they are less expensive than planet fitness and offer much more. More...

For the price you pay, ($10 a month with one once a year fee of around $40 IIRC) you get access to a variety of free weights and weight machines along with a large open area for ab work, stability ball use, stretching, basically whatever you want to do in that area. They only have treadmills for cardio equipment in the main area but they do have a spinning room that I never use. I've been there when it's a bit busier and getting on the machine you want can be a little hit or miss because there isn't a ton of variety for machines so that might not be great for some who go at busy times. For this review I will compare it to planet fitness given that planet fitness is its direct competition in that $10 a month market. Planet fitness gets high marks if you are all about cardio and weights aren't your main focus because they have more varied cardio machines, limited weight machines, that stupid lunk head alarm and aren't really playing strong to people who want to do weights. You can do weight training with them, but you'll be somewhat limited in variety and on busy days you will definitely have a wait, probably a long one. Maxx fitness, however, seems to be more geared for people who focus mainly on weight training with a limited selection of cardio (spin are and only two short rows of treadmills but more weight machines and free weights than planet fitness, more variety than them, and a large  open space area to be more creative with your workouts). For me, Maxx was the clear winner. More...

I frequent both this location and the Lincoln 3-5 times a week. I will come to this one during the day due to the over abundance of people at the Lincoln location. I typically come here between 1030am-130pm. There is always a machine available, with the exception of the stair master, there are only two. I wish they had at least 3 or 4. I tend to use the lighter free weights so those are always available as well. The clientele here have been nothing but helpful looking to help another gym goer. The staff aren't overly friendly but always say hello on the way in and have a good day on the way out. I like the tanning bed on the right the most out of all the beds/stand up tanners they have at either of the two gyms. I have done Zumba at the Lincoln location and found the extra ten bucks a month worth it for both the classes and the tanning. Out of all the gyms I have been a member to, this one its the one I have been a member the longest... which is great, I hear cancelling here is impossible. More...

I am a member here, it's very clean and the staff is lovely. The providence location is never packed which I love. The movie room is an added bonus to do some cardio machines. Only flaw is that I love classes, however the floor in the room with classes leaks water and someone can seriously hurt themselves. I am hopeful that they will fix it soon, as soon as that happens the review will for sure go to a 5. More...

Very good gym.  I avoid the rush times so I can't  comment on how packed it gets, but from 0830-noon weekdays, it's quiet enough that I never wait for a machine or weights. Clean, well lit.  Haven't seen many meatheads here.  I signed up for a personal trainer twice a week to help me gain practical strength for my job.  Pete's a great trainer. More...

Was looking at this place and the Planet Fitness Lounge down the street.  The loung was a bunch of fattys who looked like they were falling asleep on the machines and they don't believe in fitness equipment like squat bars and proper weights.  For a place who advertises as a Judge Free zone, they sure like to pass judgement on people who actually are educated enough to do something productive.  Maxx Fitness is a real gym with people looking to stay healthy and who have a pulse.  Theater room is pretty cool.  Place is popping with bros and hos.  Price is unbeatable for what you get.  Much better than Planet Fitness Cafe down the street. Probably the best Gym ive ever been to, and ive sampled a lot of them lol This is the first one ive actually bought a membership to. Place is clean, staff is friendly, and the gym is extremely spacious and beautiful. I highly recommend. Also, there is a movie theater/ work out room, how cool is that? They post the daily movies and showtimes on FB and on location. More...

Love this place. For high class people.  Not full of riff raff. The staff are awesome,  professional and they definitely know how to engage you to work out.

Truly, the best bang for your buck in Northern RI and Providence for a gym.I work down the street from this location (Providence, off of the Branch Avenue exit is the other RI location) and I am so glad to have been referred to it from a coworker. The gym is CLEAN.  Nearly spotless.  The bathrooms/changing areas are maintained, and the showers I would actually consider showering in.Twenty dollars will get you access to both the Lincoln and Providence locations, along with tanning (if that's your thing, it's not mine) and classes.  Think about it, if you take 4 Zumba classes a month, that's only 5$ a class!  There is also an annual fee, taken out in the summer, but I don't recall how much it is.  I believe it's between 60-75$--but even still, this gym is affordable! The classes are held upstairs in a private area (no people staring at you, sweet!) and the instructors are certified in Zumba, as well as the spinning instructors (at least in Lincoln.)  The classes are fun, with an array of older folks and younger too.  No pressure, and a bright, clean, well ventilated space.  However, the spinning room is WAY too clausterphobic for me, so I probably won't be taking one of those classes anytime soon. You sign up for classes online, which is really convenient and easy to manage, instead of a 'sign up sheet.'I mostly do cardio, because me with machines is just not pleasant... This is a weird environment and is much more 'gym rat' style than say, Planet Fitness, but the staff are respectful and there's no roid ragers or anything like that.  They also do have a cardio room with a movie playing every day with classics along with new movies, which is great to just go on a machine and let your mind go.I do wish that the weekend hours were later than they are, and that there were more evening classes that were RIGHT after work instead of having to wait until 7:30, but those are my only two gripes.  This gym is worth it, and will help you succeed with your fitness goals.  Goodbye, Planet Fitness! Over the years I've been a member of several yms and fitness centers; Curves, YMCA, Planet Fitness, World Gym and now Maxx Fitness. As 2014 was coming to a close, I decided it was about time to get my physical and mental self back on track.  Maxx Fitness caught my eye because both of their RI locations (Lincoln and Providence) are near my apartment and my office.  I need something close by and convenient to get to, otherwise; I will find excuses to not go. When I signed up at the end of 2014, I chose the option of $1 down/$20 per month for 1 years as it seemed more logical for me rather than the $65 down/$10 per month and the reason being is that with the $20 per month option you get free tanning, classes and can utilize both the Lincoln and Providence locations.  With the $10 per month you are limited to the location you sign up at and don't have the option for the classes or tanning.I really like this gym; it's new so it's clean and all of the cardio machines are in great working order.  On the main floor, there are an abundance of treadmills, 8 or so ellipticals and 4 bikes.  If you're into free-weights, they have an awesome selection and there are all sorts of fun strength training machines.  I also like the big open section they have with mats on the floors so you can stretch, do crunches, etc.  One of the nice features is the theatre room and they play a different movie all day every day.  It's not a huge room, but there are 4 each of treadmills, ellipticals and bikes; it's dark and cozy if you're feeling like you don't want to be seen.  The women's locker room is huge with tons of lockers, a nice scale and several showers.  They also offer daycare if you want to drop your kids off while you sweat it out.  My only minor complaint thus far is the staff.  The girl who initially showed me the ropes when I came in to sign up was friendly and helpful, but otherwise; every time I go in and scan my card upon arrival, nobody says two words to me. When comparing gyms of this size and caliber,  this is, by far, my favorite...and I've been to many. Clean, well maintained and above all, staff interactions with guests are friendly, positive and upbeat. I've been to other gyms where the staff is so disdainful of working that they don't even acknowledge you when you walk in and seem to be bothered that they need to scan your key tag. Gyms that slowly fall into disrepair making machines unusable for long periods...even indefinitely.  Gyms that are minefields of weights, barbells and extensions laying around on the floor....I could go on....That is not Maxx Fitness in Lincoln - this is a result of good management and a happy staff environment. These guys are awesome!$19 a month for unlimited classes, tanning and use of both gyms. More...

Get fitI've been coming here for a while now and i have zero complaints. I don't tan or do any of the classes so i only have the 10$ plan. One thing above anything about this place is the cleanliness of this place. The locker rooms bathroom area should always be at any place which they are here. But they take it a step further and all the machines walls weights everything is super clean. They have plenty of machines to use so you're never stuck waiting, depending on times you go. 5, 6 o'clock can be a bit hard to get to what you want. I'm fortunate enough to never have to go at these times thank you baby Jesus !! The lady under me covered most of the other things day care classes tanning booths, large open space for stretch or circuit training. would be nice if they had later hours on weekends, but that should give you more of a reason to get out of bed early and work out BOOMTheater cardio room.. i don't do cardio, but i sure its nice to watch some movies while doing it. all the cardio equipment have TVs in front of them too anyways in-case the movie of the day isn't your cup of tea. First of all, it is very well priced per month. (19.99 for unlimited classes, use of all machines,  tanning, etc? Win). So far I have only tried the zumba classes but they're super fun. The teachers are energetic and motivating. The overall environment of the gym is the best I've seen. I feel uncomfortable working out in front of people,  but here everyone is friendly and pretty much do their own thing. I feel comfortable and relaxed here. Also, there are plenty of machines so you don't have to wait to use the treadmill or elliptical. There is a daycare center for anyone who has children (I don't so can't give info on that part). The locker room is pretty big and the showers are nice. They have a curtain,  not a door but I don't think that matters. It's never crazy busy when I'm there so no biggie. They also have a large mat with a mirror if you wanted to jump rope, stretch, or anything else. And if you like a protein shake after a workout, they have a bunch of options for 5 bucks at the front desk. Very clean and nice gym, I recommend it. The hours aren't the best but they open early so it works for me. The only thing I would change is to be open later on the weekends and offer more classes then, too. Love coming here :)Oh, I almost forgot to mention one of my favorite parts. The classes are held in a room upstairs. That means, no one is staring in watching you! Big plus for me! More...
