We took our extremely excitable 18 month old goldendoodle to the Family Companion Class training classes in Amherst and were very pleased.  Toby learned a lot, but even more importantly, so did we.   Paula Macrides, and everyone who came to help, were wonderful and always happy to help out and go the extra mile if you asked them.  As with any training class, homework is important, but the results are worth it.   My only disappointment is that the graduate class is too late on a weeknight to continue. Eagle Ridge Kennels has been a God send for our Leo. He is a happy, energetic pup who loves to play. It's so nice to see that they are just as excited to see Leo in the morning as he is to be there! When I pick him up at the end of the day, he is just as happy as he was when I dropped him off. The staff seem to truly enjoy our boy. The new package deals are a great deal. My wife and I had the pleasure of having several private classes with Marcia Ritchie, and we can't be more impressed with her knowledge and professionalism, when it came to training our German Shepherd puppy(Niko). Not only did she make it pleasurable, we saw an instant change and made it a great experience. Just started Kenneling my two Aussies here. My male has some issues with being scared and excitable. Eagle ridge has been great with him in his two stays and has adapted to his issues. We've never boarded our dog here, but we take him here for grooming. We have a long haired shepherd mix and he always comes back looking great! The prices are also very reasonable. Tammy, the groomer, is fantastic. She always does an amazing job and it's clear that she is very knowledgable and passionate about what she does. By far the best place we've gone. More...

We brought Ben to Eagle Ridge to be kenneled while we were on vacation. We were told that they loved having him there. Our puppy is very shy and has a hard time with new people and dogs. He loved it there. Whenever we go on another vacation, we'll be boarding him there again. More...

Had to board my Lzzy for the 1st time. I was gone 5 days. They gave me a complete list of who she played with what other dogs she hung around with. I have been taking my dog there for a couple years now and the staff has always done a great job taking my older diabetic dog. I was so grateful when I received a phone call that she was having a seizure and had to be rushed to the vet. Because of their quick response my dog is with me today! I have now boarded my cat here three times and had him groomed on two of those stays as well as one time separately and I am very pleased. I never have trouble making an appointment. They are flexible about pick-up and he comes home happy and clearly spoiled. On my cat's first stay, he wouldn't eat because he was nervous about being in a new place. They called me to ask for advice on settling him down. Since then he knows where he is and I can see that he is calm and happy when I come to pick him up.When I have taken my cat elsewhere for grooming it has not gone very well, but the groomer here has no problem grooming him. The grooming is expensive though. Overall I am quite pleased with Eagle Ridge. I will not take my cat anywhere else. I only wish the grooming were a little less expensive. More...

I cannot say enough good about this place! I've been waiting to post my review until I completed my class here and now I can firmly say that this place is fantastic! The Family Companion actually holds classes at multiple locations across Western New York, and the class I took was at their location on Southwestern Blvd. Their classes are all generally 8 weeks in length and they offer puppy training classes, senior dog training, the family companion class, graduate companion as well as others like therapy and an agility fun course. My dog and I did the family companion class with Kim Sauer. There were a total of 9 dogs in the class so it wasn't overcrowded which was great for my dog, who has some anxiety issues among other dogs/strangers. The instructor was incredibly patient, knowledgable and friendly. If anyone had a question or issues with anything, she took the time to assist and explain things adequately. I can't wait to get into our next class here and would highly recommend this facility to those looking for a good place to train their dog. They're also very reasonably priced which is a definite bonus! More...

I have taken my dog to Eagle Ridge a number of times when I am out on vacation. They have a large outdoor play area for the dogs and they receive individual attention every day. Every time I pick him up, he seems very happy and they give him a bath before he comes home!PROS: excellent facilities, personal attention
