Q&As

Seeing the sparkle in a student’s eyes when they understand, as the lightbulb goes on for them, is the most wonderful and rewarding part of tutoring. I love being able to reach them, support them, inspire their confidence, and enable them to learn, to question, and ultimately teach themselves how to learn.

As a former college professor (with numerous teaching awards), when I was forced by circumstances to move back to my hometown of Denver, Colorado, one cannot simply walk into another academic position. So, given my passion for teaching, I began private academic tutoring and mentoring, to keep that flame alive. I have been doing this for over 15 years, now, and typically have about 12 students every term.

Most teachers are good, but not great, as with most tutors as well. I am extraordinarily adept at both, and just like when I was teaching, in my tutoring, I bring patience, humor, a devotion to engaging the mind of my students, and inspiring them to honor their own abilities.

I provide both online and remote (via Zoom) tutoring. Although it can be a bit less efficient than in-person, we still manage to get the work done, and I have outstanding client satisfaction.

For my in-person tutoring, both parties are masked, and we maintain proper physical distancing. I am fully vaccinated, and my clients are as well.
