I heard about this veterinary clinic on the local greyhound website. Our greyhound was having leg problems, and Dr Buchanan is the first of several doctors we've visited who I feel actually listened to what I was describing happened rather than just jumping to conclusions. Dr. Kline and Dr. Wiggins are fabulous, as is the rest of the staff. Always very kind and compassionate, regardless of the situation. When you have a herd of cats like us, vet care is almost a constant. Dr. B has taken excellent care of our babies, especially Charlie who had a serious gum disease when we got him as a baby and needed to have almost all his teeth removed. First time fur baby mom here, and let me tell you I feel like I'm being more cautious than a deer trying to drink from a croc infested pond. I got my baby at 8 weeks old and we definitely had a transition period. I couldn't get her to eat and I was so worried. I took her into The Downtown Vet asap after I got her and they made me feel so much better. First off, they got her to eat so that was a miracle. I went home with a case of that food. They were so patient with me and answered all of my questions (because I literally came in with a piece of paper and all my questions written out). They are super friendly and accessible: they told me if I had any questions at all feel free to call or email, and I have utilized that a few times. The Puppy Package is great, it includes all the vaccinations, some exams, de-worming, fecal testing, first dose of heartworm and flea/tick, and much more. There is a Kitten Package too for the feline babies. Things are a little pricey but if you got a pet and didn't expect to be paying a decent amount for its care then your expectations maybe weren't realistic.Overall staff is friendly and super knowledgeable, I feel very good about my choice in The Downtown Vet! Had a kitten that ended up getting sick and passing away. I had an AMAZING experience before and after with the Downtown Vet, and I’ll be honest, I cried when I opened a sympathy card from them that was signed by each person in the office. 10/10 would recommend to anybody and when I get another pet I will for sure be coming back. Awesome experience today. Very understanding and professional. My first impression is that they care about my animal, love what they do, and offer advice or suggestions. Spent several minutes learning about my dog. Asked lots of questions and took their time building trust with him. Dr Cline and the Vet Tech Sam are excellent. Savannah and Siena were lucky enough to live down the street from Dr Buchanan and his awesome staff at The Downtown Veterinarian. The relationship we developed, the service we received and the genuine care was second to none. Dr Buchanan's attention to detail has been a great source of comfort when the health of my girl is concerned.The proof is that we now live in South Carolina but travel BACK to Indianapolis for their annual physicals every year. We have been bringing our pets to the Downtown Veterinarian for years and could not be happier. There are many vets between the NE side where we live and this practice, but the compassion and care given at the Downtown Vet makes the drive more than worth it. The staff is warm and friendly and go above and beyond including Dr. Buchanan calling in the evening (on what should be his time), to follow up and make sure our furry family member is doing well. Dr. Wiggers and team took care of our Akita mix Cujo from 8 weeks old. Dr. Wiggers and her incredible staff were right there with us when she could no longer walk and stopped eating. Cujo died at 13 y/o surrounded by my husbsnd and I and her second family the incredible doctors and nurses at the Downtown Veterinarian. Dr. Wiggers also checked up on us the following week. We were more devastated than I thought possible. Without them it would have been a nightmare. They basically treated us as a family. They define compassionate professionalism. Dr. Buchanan is as good as it gets for a vet in Indy. He's kind, gentle and thorough. My little guy, a 7 yr. old Shih Tzu (who is my only child) got sick late on a Friday and they squeezed him right in. Turns out he needed immediate surgery. Dr. B called 3 hospitals until he found one that would take him in and that he'd recommend. He's healthy and doing well now and been back to Dr. B for 2 check ups. More...

The vet and assistant that I had on the 13th were some of the kindest, most caring and gentle vets I've ever visited. I went to 2 different vets with my baby before I came here. I wish I could go back in time and have brought him here from the beginning. When I'm ready to open my home to another animal this will definitely be my vet of choice. We found a stray dog and took it to them and they love the dog, fed and watered it, and through the chip in the dogs back found the owner. All for free and with great spirits. Not my current vet office but when I need a new one I will go there on basis of their attitude alone. Good show. More...

The staff and Dr Tom are amazing! This was Murphy's first visit. We were there for a second opinion about his allergies where they previous vet had been treating him for household seasonal allergies and we knew that wasn't it because nothing he was doing was really helping for 2years he was just eating our money for nothing. Dr Tom recognized that it is most likely food allergies and we are on an actual food trial unlike what the previous vet was doing to us. We are recommending this clinic to everyone!! More...

This past week I brought my cat, Charlie, into The Downtown Pet Clinic. When making my appt they were flexible with scheduling and able to get us in right when I needed it. It was my first time there and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking! Once inside, we were greeted and promptly taken back for our appt. Charlie is not known to be a friendly cat and vet visits often give me anxiety as I do not know how he's going to behave. Dr. Buchanan was EXTREMELY patient and gentle towards Charlie and it put us both at ease. The appt went so smoothly. I'm glad I decided to take Charlie here! We will be back for any other vet needs. Like another reviewer, I once thought the Downtown vet was a bit overpriced and tried elsewhere. However, one year later I was glad to return to them with my two beagle mixes. Between moving to Cincinnati and back, and emergency visits, I've probably interacted with a dozen vets in my time. If you find cheaper rates, I'm willing to bet the care is sub-par. Dr. Buchanan has great bedside manner for the animals and their owners. You can tell he cares a lot and really keeps up on all the latest research, technology, and drugs. He helped to manage a heart condition of a former dog and she lived on a healthy and happy 3 additional years. Dr. Wiggers is also available if you are interested in more holistic or alternate type treatments. In working with her, she is willing to discuss different options of treatment and really let you decide what works best for you. I'll never forget when we had to put our last beagle to sleep, and how helpful and caring Dr. Wiggers and the staff were. They accommodated us at the end of their day on a Saturday, without an appointment, when we realized it was time. Care for animals is expensive just as it is for humans. Our two cats were patients of Dr. Buchanan and he is wonderful vet! We recently moved out of state and we miss being able to take our cats to him. One of our cats is a bit of a nightmare at the vet and Dr. Buchanan was always kind, patient, and gentle with him.
