The Chocolate Room

MmmmmmmFrom the moment you walk in, the smell of cocoa is so rich you almost don't need to eat or drink any. But of course you want to try everything, so you find excuses to come here way too much. For the restrained, there are individual chocolates and truffles, as well as small treats like muffins, cookies, pastries, bark, etc. There's a big ice cream menu that changes seasonally (yes, they serve ice cream in the winter, yes, they have pumpkin spice in the fall). The real stars are the cakes and puddings, which you might want to share with someone. The chocolate layer cake is excellent, the chocolate almond cake is good but a tad sweet for my liking. They do a great ricotta cheesecake with a chocolate crumb base, topped with berry coulis and fresh berries. They also have giant teapot sized teas and herbal tisanes. I recommend the raspberry, which isn't overly sweet. There's a full espresso coffee menu as well, including a few non dairy milk options. Excellent service, and you can stay here as long as you like except when it's super busy. Music is low enough that you can have a conversation over it. Pay cash or card. Gender neutral restrooms. No outdoor seating except the bench in front, but they do get a lot of natural light from the big windows in the back. More...

I loved this place! I went with my little cousin to celebrate his birthday and even before we stepped on the block, the delicious smell of melted chocolate wafted towards us. I ordered a banana split sundae and he got the brownie sundae. It was absolutely delicious, decadent, and mouthwateringly good! The price was reasonable and the place was decorated so well! This is the best Chocolate Room! The other ones are ok, but this is the best one! I got the brownie sundae (AMAZING) and have had the flourless cake before (AMAZING). Can't remember what else. While walking past this shop I was drawn in by a sign that said , "we have strawberry lemonade" . Since I was hot, I thought to myself this lemonade might be the refreshing drink that I need so I can power through this day . So I decided to stop in a order a glass of lemonade .Upon entering the shop I was greeted by employees who patiently waited for my order. Once I expressed I only wanted a frozen lemonade , the barista quickly began to prepare my drink . After a few minutes my drink was complete and I thought to myself woah that was fast .The lemonade itself was sour as all out doors . It was a bit strong for me , but I kept drinking it be says everything it was unlike anything I ever tasted . The drink tasted like the barista blended fresh strawberries and mixed it with lemon and ice to create a soft drink with the texture of a coolata. The interior of the restaurant is very calming because of the color scheme the interior designer went with .  I would definitely return to this shop again , hopefully to actually try some chocolate next time and to see why Oprah mentioned this shop in her magazine. Like the name implies, this place is all about chocolate. Chocolate done in almost every way and every way right. I had the chocolate cake which was super moist and extremely chocolatey. So I guess as a fair warning for those who like a subtle amount of chocolate, this may not be for you BUT if you're a choco-holic then this is the cake for you! It's not overtly sweet, in my opinion, so it invites you to continue eating until your plate is empty and hey , maybe get a second slice? I also went for the chocolate ice cream. That was probably my favorite thing there. The ice cream had a very very rich dark chocolate taste. I am hardly ever in Brooklyn, but I think I would make the nearly 2-hour trek from Flushing to come to The Chocolate Room again. Their ice cream is so fresh and natural and packed with flavor! I am very picky about chocolate desserts, and a lot of chocolate ice cream is way too sweet without much chocolate flavor, but the chocolate ice cream at The Chocolate Room is rich, creamy, the right balance of sweetness, and the taste of chocolate is so intense and tasty!!!!! One of the best things is the fact that you can get chocolate sprinkles on top for free. My friend for the strawberry ice cream, and he was so amazed at the fact that the color of the ice cream was a pale tan color. I told him, that it just shows that they don't use food coloring to make it a shocking pink, so I really like how natural their ice cream is. As we were eating out ice cream cones, my friend and I were so happy that the person scooping the ice cream made sure to fill up the inside of the cone with smaller scoops, which is so Great, because a lot of ice cream parlors just plop a ball of ice cream right on top of the cone, so after you finish the ice cream, you are left with a dry, hollow cone. Really cute place for anyone who can't get enough chocolate.  We sat at the bar and it was really cool to watch the waiters prepare the different drinks and desserts.  I kept it simple and had the chocolate ice cream with hot fudge.  It was fabulous.  They gave us a free sample of the chocolate pound cake. Amazing! Everyone there were super nice.  Only downside they are having a hard time getting a liquor license because they are close to a church. Other than that no complaints at all. More...

This is my second time here, OMG I'm in love! I'm not sure if it's that I picked the right time of the month to come or if the ambiance and this Sunday are really this perfect but zeeeeeummmm! !! My best friend and I split the Sundae and the closest thing I can compare it to is the one at Max Brenner....soooo good! I hate whipped cream and I even liked the one on the sundae, it wasn't sweet and tasted house made. It's a little cold in here but the ambiance and cute Brooklyn decor definitely compensate. I've been to the Chocolate Room several times over the past few years, and it's always a yummy and positive experience. It smells deliciously of chocolate once you walk in the door. There's a counter to buy goodies at, or plenty of tables in back for enjoying something there. I love the brownie sundae, and everyone I've taken there has enjoyed their dessert. This is my Second time trying out this small but cozy dessert shop. Previously my friend and I had ordered chocolate chip almond cake which was so light and just right amount of sweetness. This time I ordered a simple warm brownie sundae with Sumatran coffee ice cream (because vanilla gets boring to me ). It was really delicious and the ice cream was generous amount. Honestly, eating a brownie alone would be too much so pairing it with ice cream balances it out. I also got a chocolate egg cream which was okay. Waiter service was good as expected on a slow weekday afternoon. The desserts are pricey but the quality makes up for it.I'd come back to try other chocolate dessert.
