Food is great and owner/chef is very nice and gifted. We had a reception here that they catered after my dad's funeral and everything was perfect.

Wow! What a fantastic experience, all around. The atmosphere -- comfortable, gorgeous old home, PERFECT music at the perfect volume -- and the food -- delicious, unique, and obviously created with care -- were great. The service was extraordinary, too! Our server, Brian, was the amazingly attentive and thoughtful, anticipating anything we might want and giving us great descriptions of the menu items. The Chef's House exceeded expectations in every way! Our brunch experience was especially enjoyable because it was so RELAXING. They've made me a huge fan, and I plan to be back often! More...

Always such a pleasurable experience! Food is WONDERFUL! My server Taryn is great. So very nice. I'm enjoying a glass of wine and some shrimp and grits outside on the deck. How pleasant! Also... they will start serving breakfast all day 7am to 2pm within 2 weeks. And also will be delivering in the downtown area! What a great thing for Statesville!! More...

We had came from the mountains and I found this restaurant on yelp so we decided to visit. I got a Benedict that had honey drizzled over the fried chicken.  All the flavors sounded very good on the menu, and I love any kind of Benedict! When my boyfriend and my food arrived, he really enjoyed his livermush, which was very good, but my food wasn't as good as I had hoped. My fried chicken was very overcooked and one of my poached eggs were a little overcooked .  The service was slow and since we had waited a while , sending my food back just wasn't in our time frame. We would come back if driving through but I may would choose something different on the menu. More...

I was told I could expect contemporary southern food at The Chef's House. Being from Ohio that sounded intriguing. I was not disappointed! The food was excellent, the staff very cordial and friendly, and the atmosphere cozy and welcoming. I just had to try the "Not Your Grandma's Potato Salad" made with sweet potatoes as well as the homemade chips and chicken salad sandwich. (I didn't eat all this myself...I shared with my sister). Wow!! Every bite was yummy! I will definitely make The Chef's House a regular stop whenever I am in Statesville. More...

Two of us for lunch. Service was superb. Attentive and friendly without being invasive or too familiar. His recommendation of "root chips" was spot on, a perfect appetizer for 2. My taco salad didn't have typical corn chips in or around it and I didn't miss them. The dressing was zesty without being too hot. 2-3 other tables occupied throughout our visit. Not too loud, not too quiet - just right.  I would have liked trying Crab cake sammies but currently off the menu. We didn't order entrees until well into appetizer. Slowed the pace and gave us more time to visit, our reason for meeting there today. We enjoyed it a lot. A good place to meet with a friend or client and enjoy a different menu. More...

Stopped here while passing through. Had brunch on the porch, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Good shade and felt pretty isolated from vehicles and foot traffic. Our server was nice, and the food was pretty good. We got the Monte Cristo waffle sandwich and the crab cake eggs Benedict. My main complaint was that the crab cake Benedict was pretty dry. There was almost no sauce on it, and I think it could have been better. Also, the wait staff kind of lost track of us on the porch towards the end of the meal. A good experience all together though. A brunch in Statesville what a great idea..... shrimp and grits lacked flavor, but had potential with tweaks Crab cake Benedict. ......great idea but basically a crab cake on a piece of corn bread with a fried egg  on it and the yoke was cooked very dry could have been a great dish if it had had a poached egg with Hollandaise sauce for moisture and flavor.  I really want them to succeed and will give them another chance....Flavor is always remembered over Fancy! The Chef's House was quaint. Set in a historic house, with little landscape. The house is a nice tan color, with beautiful front porch. The interior was decorated very subtly, not adorned with many wall decorations, very simple. The attire of the staff was very casual, each employee wore a black tshirt and black pants. I arrived shortly after they opened. After arriving to the front of the house I realized parking driveway was on both sides of house with parking. If arriving closer to 12, parking is limited. Upon entering the restaurant, I notice the house didn't have the "old house aroma" as most do. I was greeted politely with the hostess, she seated me and told me the name of my waitress. The waitress was pleasant and friendly. She took my drink order. Being my first visit here, and no idea what to order, I asked what she recommended. She gave me some popular choices, and few more minutes. I decided on the Southwest Salad with beef. As I needed something light.  After ordering the food, the waitress come back out and said they were currently out of salsa and asked what dressing I preferred instead. I chose ranch dressing(which was good). The food was good. Not spicy as I was expecting considering it was a southwest salad. The meal was fulfilling, I left feeling full not stuffed. Overall I am satisfied with my experience at Chef House. For them to be 2 months old I consider it a great experience. Good luck Chef house in your growth! More...

Creative menu well executed. This is the third time I have dined in this house and each was a different restaurant. Last one I believe was named Tommy's Taco's and I will admit the taco's were good, the restaurant did not last long. Went to The Chef's House yesterday for lunch and I sincerely wish they have better luck because I completed enjoyed myself. Interesting menu that if I were to try and describe it, I would call it Modern Southern Cuisine. The house is an elegant house on Davie Ave. Not sure what to describe the architecture because it's later than Victorian. The have remodeled the house to make it functional as a restaurant  while still maintaining much of the charms of the original building.t's a little awkward because you park in the rear and most people enter through the rear door where the host stand is. Promptly seated and great service throughout. As I said, a creative menu. I had the open face Crab Cake Sammy with fries on the side. The Crab Cakes were more of a Charleston Style as opposed to the more spicy Maryland Style.  The Remoulade was good and was subdued version of traditional New Orleans. Perfect contrast to the Crab. This is where it gets creative. Rather than a brioche or other form of roll, the Sammy part is a very good Corn Bread giving it more of a Country feel. The potatoes were like my mother used to make. Thinly cut like a potato chip but fried in a skillet but not to the point of being crispy. I know that in some parts of the country, this would be called home fries but I have a problem with that because when I lived in Ohio and Pennsylvania, home fries described something else. Therefore I'm not sure what to call them so take you pick. They're good whatever you call them. This is going to be a good addition to the Statesville dining scene. A bit out of the way in an area of Statesville where you don't normally find restaurant but worth the trip to find them.As "The Arnold" used to say. "I'll be Back" More...
