Bento Box. This is a great place for a group dinner - a birthday dinner perhaps with friends and family. We were indeed there for birthday celebrations - and they didn't disappoint. 5 course meal for about $50 or so after tip - which for Chicagoland prices, that's a pretty good deal for all you get. Did I mention it's "bring your own" beverages? An incredibly good egg roll, Korean fried chicken, mussels, noodles with pork belly and chicken, and an ice cream dessert. Trust me, you'll be full. Also, they can cater to any dietary needs - very accommodating. Let's talk ambiance. It's pretty straight forward. An inconspicuous restaurant with an open concept and about 3 tables, this place only seats maybe 30 people max. You can make friends with the tables around you or bring your whole crew and takeover the space. What's even cooler - is that you can take over the music if you ask nicely and really set your own vibe. Big fan of the makeshift environment aspect. This is a solid 4 stars for me. This Gem is a MUST!!! First, if you plan on dining here make a reservation.  They only have 6 tables so it leaves little for them to accommodate walk ins.   Second, BYOB if you plan on having alcohol.  They highly recommend it as she told me they want you to leave Drunk, Full and Happy!  Third, you do not get a menu, you eat what they serve you and it's shared with all your table mates.  Hey, it leaves the opportunity of missing a great dish out of my hands because I get to eat everything!!! Every dish was so flavorful and as they prepared it you could smell the delicious aroma.  It makes you anticipate the next dish.  The woman who was serving everyone, had such a great personality.  She made the experience so much more.  Excellent music in the background.  I like a little Johnny Cash!The egg rolls were a perfect starter.  They are not typical egg rolls as you get hint of peanut butter in them.  Next came the mussels in a sweet green curry sauce.  This had to be my favorite dish.  I was drinking the juice from the serving spoon.  She offered to just package it up so I can make something at home with(love it).3 rd course was fried chicken thighs with kimchi mashed potatoes!  AMAZING dish!  Must be a signature for them.  Has a slow burn.  Chicken soft and moist.  Kimchi potatoes?  You can't go wrong!4th course was grilled chicken on Singapore noodles with basil and snow peas.  Can you say" I'm so FULL!!"  My husband LOVED this dish.  Chicken is super moist considering it was grilled.  Flavors were out of this world!  We took most of this home as my stretch pants had hits its elasticity maximum!Lastly, for desert we had Lychee Mochi! This place was soooo amazing! My friend and I went tonight on a whim-no reservations. The waitress was so nice and welcoming. They don’t have a menu which is so cool! They have a tasting menu but we just ordered 3 entrees. They were giant but if you go you have to get all 3!! The mussels were so delicious! It was my first time trying mussels. They were cooked in this curry broth that was so perfect for the colder weather. It really hit the spot! The noodle chicken dish was great and then the crispy chicken dish with sweet potato and kimchi was soooo much flavor. Each dish had little kicks to it and were really outstanding. I love the Beef Bulgogi!I simply love this dish. It has spice and flavor unlike any I have ever tasted. And of course I always get the egg rolls. The dipping sauce makes them.  The mussels and Thai sauce are out of this world. Always an amazing meal from Be to Box. I wish the delivery options were super tight as I never feel like the menu is updated on the sites and sometimes the restaurant is offline during hours the restaurant is clearly open. This place is AMAZING!! Tonight was my first time and I will be coming back. My friend and I ordered 3 entrees to split which was PLENTY of food. We had lots of leftovers. We ordered the mussels which were outstanding!! It was my first time trying mussels and I am so glad this is where I decided to try! The curry sauce/broth they are cooked in is unreal! It was the perfect element on a chilly fall day. The chicken/noodle dish is sooooo good and the Korean chicken with potatoes/kimchi is delicious. Our server was so nice and so welcoming. Found this place on accident because our previous reservation at a different restaurant was not BYOB. We called this place and they said no problem come on in. JFC. 10 stars. I always wanted to be cremated after death but had no idea what to do with my ashes. Now I know. I want to be cremated and have my ashes placed in a casket, which is filled to the brim with Chef Rick Spiros' Thai Curry sauce. Thank you for your service. Wow.

Stellar BYOB Asian option in Logan square with an intimate and casual vibe. I stumbled upon this place with my girlfriend while trying to find food in Logan, and we were disappointed when they told us the restaurant was booked all night. The following day, we placed a reservation online for four people and picked up some alcohol on the way there. We were blown away with the tasting menu. Everyone at the table agreed that the egg rolls and mussels were the best of either we had ever had. Additionally, this tasting menu actually fills you - we all felt completely satisfied from the meal! We LOVE LOVE LOVE Bento Box! My husband and I eat there about twice a month. While the menu is small, the food is absolutely delicious. It is BYOB also. Suggest getting a reservation in advance especially for the weekend (although occasionally there are a few seats for walk-ins). Servers and the chef Rick are super nice. On our entire 4 day trip to Chicago, this was the HIGHLIGHT. We were recommended Bento Box by a friend who used to live in Chicago. Our table did the tasting menu and every single dish was better than the last...how is that possible? The Singapore noodles were my favorite. The korean fried chicken was impeccable and had an unbelievable amount of crunch. We considered going back to BB for dinner every other night of our trip, but figured we should mix up our eats. Bento Box continues to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants and relatively hidden gems in all of Chicago. I threw a surprise birthday party for my husband there three years ago and it was perfect. We were only a dinner party of 10 so not enough to warrant renting the place out. I reached out to BB early and they were happy to make the reservation for us. We were doing the tasting menu and the chef even allowed me to make some requests for my husbands favorite items for that night. On top of that, the BYOB allowed us to bring in a crate of wine and liquor and my brother in law set up in the corner and spent the night as bartender, whipping up cocktails. The food was incredible as always and for our friends who had never been, they had no idea the 5 course meal they just experienced was only $35 a person! We hadn't been back to Bento Box since that fabulous night...until this past Friday for an impromptu date night. They have commercialized a little bit - they take credit cards now, they offer take out and delivery, and they increased their tasting menu to $40 a person. But the BYOB is still free, the venue is still perfectly unassuming, and the food is still absolutely mind blowing. We were thrilled this time to try many dishes we had not had before - hangar steak and Singapore noodles, Korean fried chicken and kimchi potatoes, and my husband's first time with the green curry mussels. Everything was amazing and I'm determined to figure out how to recreate the kimchi potatoes because I've been dreaming about them ever since. You simply can not go wrong with Bento Box but I also hope they always remain a little less famous so they can be one of my personal insights to the city that most don't know about. More...

Dined for a monthly ethnic BYOB event. Whine the place is very small they do still take walk ins. Manager, chef, waiter all very attractive. This review is long overdue.  We have lived in the area for 6 years now and have eaten here more times than I can count.  Having tried everything on the menu now I have yet to be disappointed.  Great spot to bring friends or family to eat as the environment is pretty intimate and easier to talk with your group.  I hope this place never changes as it is our favorite restaurant in Chicago.  Also, even though we typically dine in, we do order takeout a fairly often as well and the food is still top notch!
