I love working with children so when my younger child was ready, I returned to volunteering and substituting in school. After some time, I started Teddy Tutoring so I could connect individually with my students, many of whom needed a little extra help after the day was over.

What do you love most about your job?
I love talking to children! I learn new perspectives and new ideas from them regularly. In some situations we have developed such trust that they are able to share a fear or a worry. I can pass that on to a parent and we can help them move through a difficult time together rather than get stuck.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Working individually with children is completely different from the classroom setting. I’m not bound by a specific methodology so we can explore and learn in the student’s best way. Customizing a lesson can be the difference between learning something or becoming lost and I knew I could help a child learn.
Why should our clients choose you?
I’m accessible and flexible with respect to materials-we WILL find something that works; I find that my students like me-I’ve had some tough cookies but we find our way; lastly, I’ve got a lot of experience and I think that’s important - teaching and tutoring require creativity, patience, humor, and some quick thinking.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Right now I work primarily online. I use Zoom but if you prefer we can Skype or FaceTime. I have a home office If you only want in person. I’d need proof of vaccination and we’d have to be within a 1 mile radius.
Executive function skills
I help families help their children with organization and time management concerns. Together we can work to help toward meeting homework goals, house rules, etc. I’m happy to discuss this broad topic.
English as a second language
If English is not your first language I can help with that too! I can help with pronunciation, reading, idioms, etc. I’m happy to discuss that if you’re interested.
Test Prep
I work with elementary and middle school students but I start with the youngest who are preparing for ongoing school so that can be four year old children. Thinking and Engagement prep for the private school system kept me busy 2021. Every public school system has testing and preparation helps-prep and testing is a different schedule from private.
