I was looking for a salon in the Pasadena area, I needed a change and when I came across Tangles on Yelp, I decided to give it a try.  It was super easy to make an appointment.I really needed a hair style, not a hair cut, a style, and that's exactly what I received.  Sarah was fantastic, she took the time to listen what I was looking for, she made some suggestions and we found a style that works for me.  The vibe of the salon is classy casual, the receptionist was very nice and welcoming. I literally never leave reviews but I feel compelled. First time visiting this cute salon, and I got a partial highlight from Annelise. Can't recommend her enough, she has a super fun, sweet personality and a lot of integrity as a hairstylist. She took the time to truly understand the result I wanted and was so patient. Having recently decided to embrace my naturally wavy/curly hair I was in search of someone who can cut it right. Not everyone can cut curly hair and I was fed up with awful cuts. I worked with Cathy to schedule my appointment and it was easy and she was very helpful and friendly. Today I arrived and met Hector. He is simply amazing!! Answered every question I had. I gifted the Tangles Salon experience to my daughter.  We were both on a quest for new stylists (long story) and were generally apprehensive about a new salon search since we are People of Color (and even when salons promote themselves as 'Black Hair Salons' you have to proceed with extreme caution because some salons are not full service salons that offer services that would commonly be available at salons that are experienced at serving LatinX and Black clientele). Tangles Salon is an intimate space, that is aesthetically pretty and well appointed.  Reception is incredibly professional, appropriately friendly, and extremely client-focused.  It is clear that they truly care about their clients here...I suspect the owner takes a personal interest in ensuring that client's feel well-served as she seems quite lovely and hands-on.    I did not see many Clientele of Color nor many Stylists of Color.  The SALON's services are very specific, however.  Outside of Keratin treatments and Brazilian Blowouts, traditional hair straightening services are NOT available at Tangles and I do not feel comfortable characterizing this as a salon that is capable of offering full-service salon experience to clients of Color.  I was unable to receive the services I desired (relaxer and Demi-permanent Color).  However, my daughter is bi-racial: Her hair is mid way down her back and her hair texture is a soft curl.  She was able to receive the services she requested (deluxe blow dry including iron works) and had an excellent result with Lillit (who is warm and affable and absolutely a pro). All in all Tangles Salon is a wonderful salon.  However, it was advertised as a salon that offered services for clients of Color.  For many clients of Color, I believe that you may find the services offered at Tangles to be somewhat limited. However, If you are looking for an exceptional stylist skilled at working with a variety of hair textures and lengths, and who offers a full service salon for clients of all races and ethnicities, I found a home at Stylist Lee Salon in Hollywood. I was just visiting from New York and needed a haircut. she and her staff make you feel comfortable and at home right was, bringing you a drink and putting you in a smock, definitely pampering. I had a wonderful experience from start to finish at Tangles. I have super curly hair --I learned I'm a 3B-- and I have never had any hairstylist teach me so much about how to care for my hair before visiting Tangles. I worked with Hector and he was well trained in treating, shaping, and caring for curly hair. After 27 years of blindly experimenting on my hair, I learned what I was doing wrong and all the things I could be doing right. I love when someone can teach me something and I left Tangles with a wealth of knowledge about curly hair treatment. If you have curly hair, I strongly recommend that you invest your time (2 hours) in the Deva Curl Haircut. If Hector was any indication, all stylists at Tangles are well-equipped and knowledgeable about all hair types. This is truly the first salon I've visited that had confident hairstylists who could work on curly hair. Others would shutter away and just charge me more because my hair was "difficult". If you're a curly girl- you NEED to come to this salon. I have cut my hair there twice now and both times it has been amazing. Their stylist are certified in the Deva cut hairstyle and they are so knowledgeable about how to cut and take care of curly hair. And the best part is that they pass on that knowledge to you. Since coming to the salon my hair has been the best it has ever been because now I know exactly how to take care of it. I have stopped buying hundreds of products in an attempt to find something that works, because the stuff that they recommend to you absolutely works. My latest haircut was with Hector and he was amazing. I found Tangles Salon in Pasadena, CA due to their great reviews. I scheduled an appointment with Cathy/Owner...she simply gets it! I found this place when my previous "go to"place called and cancelled last minute on me. They where able to get me in on the same day in about a few hours from when I called. The place is really nice inside, there are many chairs and stylist. Also theres a small room/closet to change into a black robe to keep your clothes clean and a rack to hang your coat. The girl who attend me was Nicole she was very sweet and professional, she took the time to hear me out in what I was looking to do to my hair (get rid of the blond in my ends from an over due ombré) in short I love the out come! And even better when Nicole offered a free toner in two weeks to freshen up any wash out I may have! I'm glad I found this place I will definitely be coming back. They only down side is the parking which if you are from Pasadena you already know how hard it is to park especially in old town which is where the salon is close to. Lyn I can't thank you enough for the wonderful cut and ur generous spirit. I cut 14 inches off my hair to donate and Lyn made me feel comfortable to do so. My hair is a big part of my identity so cutting that much off is like losing 20,000 of my kids. I was in such good hands. Making an appt was easy. The lady asked me a ton of questions to make sure she set me up with the right stylist. When I came in I was greeted by the very friendly receptionist and given coffee (the way to my heart: coffee) and then I was taken in to be scalped (jk). I saw another stylist there with a great cut and I pointed to her n said 'I want that cut' and that's the cut I got- granted it's a bit shorter than the other stylist's cut. I didn't wanna go quite that short but meh, hair grows. Lyn was meticulous and really listened to what I wanted and made recommendations on how to style my new do. Seriously, I can't say enough great things about the entire team here. My experience getting a Deva Cut the first time was so great, I had to come back! This time, for a Deva Cut Mini, and Pintura Highlights. Let me start by saying, this was my first time going through with Pintura Highlights (in actuality, this was my first highlight/color experience), and I absolutely loved the end result! I was going for a subtle, natural look and Cathy was great about listening to my wants and needs, all while providing her own input which she felt would add depth to my look.
