Reporting a superb repair service provided by the professionals at the Sweetwater Kayaks; Wayne and Tim.When I discovered a leak in my kayak on a Festival trip, Wayne, an instructor at the Festival, gave me a tape for a temporary patch. Then he transported my kayak to the shop on his way home. Tim did an excellent job at the shop repairing the leak and building an extra layer of protection. The repair was done fast, with great communication and a very reasonable price! Bravo Sweetwater Kayaks! Thank you! More...

We had such a great time and experience with Sweetwater Kayaks. Our adventure started with a groupon purchase. We called them ahead of time to make our reservations, the lady my wife spoke with was very pleasant and informative. Since she was aware we'd never done this before, she helped provide some guidance. We discussed the weather forecast for that day and the tides then completed our reservation. On the day of our trip, we actually showed up to their store location. This is the only reason they didn't get a perfect score. The kayak rentals are actually located at a different location. While we weren't made aware of this when we originally called, after a few minutes someone at the store gave us directions on how to get to the rentals. Once there, the staff onsite was prompt, efficient and very courteous. They asked about our experience level and based on that, provided some recommendations along with a detailed map. Our kayak excursion was just as described. We got to go through these amazing mangrove tunnels. Word of caution, some areas in the mangrove tunnels can get pretty tight and with traffic going in both directions sometimes it takes a little coordination with a fellow kayaker. Aside from that plenty of areas with open space. Got to see some beautiful wildlife that included, cranes, dolphins, turtles, crabs, rays and all kinds of fish. Bring bug spray and sunblock. Thanks again to everyone at Sweetwater Kayaks for the awesome experience. More...

Great friendly staff you can get to know by name! Kayak took a little longer than expected to get to me after the initial purchase, but it was worth the wait. I'll keep coming back to see Derick and Natalie for their business! More...

Great shop to buy a boat, or to gear it up. Everything I needed to hit the water. They even ran a symposium in the spring so I could learn to paddle better! Great folks, great shop,The staff was super helpful, and got me fit into the perfect boat for me, and they even provide a demo! Tried it on the water at weedon island! So cool to have experts get me into something I should enjoy for years. Way to go you all, keep it up! More...

Russell and Tiffany took us out for SUP lessons at Weedon Island - our experience with them was nothing short of magnificent. Low key instruction, perfectly paced, and both were such a joy to spend time with...the support team on shore, Andrew and John, were welcoming and fun. This adventure far exceeded all our expectations, and we are looking forward to getting back out there again soon! More...

Nice staff, good selection, and cozy store. Parking is a bit limited. The prices are a bit on the high side but it's worth supporting a local store. They offer demos and board repair.

What a great experience! I recently took a class with of group of beginner friends and, although I've been kayaking for years, learned some new techniques which have given me much better control over the boat and helped me become a more efficient paddler. The novice paddlers in the group, who started the morning having difficulty just staying in the boat, ended the class with, not only the ability to stay upright, but effectively control the boat with confidence using a variety of techniques. The instructors were exceptional at tailoring their teaching styles to the learning styles and different skill levels of the people in the group; and as a result, everyone (myself included) learned the new techniques quickly and had a great time out on the water. In addition to the instructors, everyone we talked to at the shop had a lot of knowledge and experience with the boats and gear and were able to make solid recommendations based on our individual skill levels and the types of paddling we intend to do. In all of our outdoor adventures, this was one of the best experiences we’ve had, both as a group and individually. I can’t say enough good things about the folks at Sweetwater, but can highly recommend it to anyone interested in paddling. More...

I was in the beginner class with one of the other reviewers. Previously I had done some white water river kayaking which is a completely different animal. I had a little idea of what to expect, but not really a good picture of the difference between sea and river kayaking. Russell and Cynthia (our instructors) were just awesome. They were able to tailor the training to the experience of each of the individual students in the class, and they each brought a different style of training. The training area was a perfect place to conduct a class like this. The water was shallow enough to stand up in most places, and the water temp was perfect. It was a nice contained area. The shop has a nice homey feel and reminds me of one of my favorite scuba shops--you can tell the staff are all sport participants and not paycheck collectors. They are all knowledgeable and have a good rapport with one another.I would highly recommend visiting the shop and taking a lesson, or demoing a kayak with Sweetwater! More...

I moved down to the Orlando area, and this place was recommended too my by the store manager where I uses to do business. They deal in all the products that I "crave" and some new ones that I am learning about . Russell who I deal with most of the time is great he knows what he sales and I have never been pushed or misguided. They will guild you to places to paddle in the area, and do one on one lessons when it works for you. And most of all it is a small locally owned shop, just like the place I left behind, which makes for a homey, new hangout. More...
