Q&As

Light. Location. Pose. Settings. Emotion. In that order. Most people focus on technical aspects and locations far too much. I find what makes for the best photography is knowing how to pose someone naturally in the correct light. If you can create a pose that works well on someone and then get them to laugh or evoke an emotion, you can truly get images that will be remembered for a lifetime. The emotion in pictures is what makes people go into burning buildings for photo albums, not some fancy bridge or a certain outfit.

Essentially the most important details I would want to know is the style and type of photography they are interested in. Regardless of category (headshots, corporate event, portraits etc.) I think the most important thing would be to know what kind of mood or feel you would want your pictures to reflect. I've often had clients hire me saying they like warmer tones, urban environments and many other preferences. Its for that reason I often ask clients to pick 3-5 pictures they absolutely love, it gives us something to work with and build off of.

I'd have to say that the favorite thing about my job is getting to meet fun, interesting new people. Its always a great experience seeing someone come into their element in front of the camera, especially a person who is initially somewhat shy and unsure of themselves.

Sujaan Lal Photography initially started out as a simple extension of a hobby I came to really know and love. I am also a student, so I often found myself making excuses to not go out an pursue my photography goals, saying I had too much work or that it was too much effort. I finally decided to take the plunge and its safe to say I've never looked back. One of the best choices I've made thus far

My philosophy for photography is to represent reality as it is, but maybe to take it just that inch further. I think my strength lies in being able to take someone's natural beauty and bring that out in a photo. I also feel like I'm flexible in meeting clients demands and I think that is something that most photographers aren't willing to do.
