While I was very excited about the prospect of taking the class,I did not know what to expect. From the moment it started till the end of the course, I was extremely impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise, as well as the excellent level of teaching. Wanda is THE expert and she leaves nothing out... think of any design element you want to know about, Wanda and George got it. First off, the class is small, so the setting is very personal, well structured and contains "hands on" experience directly with a client and vendors who are very generous with their time sharing their expertise. In addition, we got 6 mo of free consultation with Wanda from setting up the business, to preparing consultation with clients, to presentations and much more. How awesome is Kim at Style My Space? Let me tell you. I am not a client of hers, but she spent time out of her day to help me come up with a solution to a screen door issue I was having. Longer version: I wanted a style of french door with a screen set into the door vs. a separately framed screened door that I was having a hard time describing to my contractor and could not find a picture of on line. I thought there might be a specific name for this type of door and randomly called Style My Space, thinking that a designer might be able to give me the name of the door so I could look it up online and show my contractor.  Turns out this style of door is no longer made. This is where Kim got really awesome - she asked me what problem I was trying to solve by not having a separately framed screen door and then helped me find a solution for it. How many professionals take the time to do that!? I've been meaning to write this review for a long time.  It speaks volumes that six months later I am still thinking of how wonderful my experience was engaging Wanda and George to design my space.  I told them a little about me and gave them carte blanche to do whatever they wanted within my budget, and I couldn't be happier.  This is a second home for me, so they needed to purchase everything from plate ware to towels to artwork and furniture.  They ran a few pieces by me that were a little outside my comfort zone, but they encouraged me to take the leap, and I am so happy that I did.  I get compliments on my place constantly, and friends tell me that it is "soooo me."  it's amazing that they knew just what I'd like after only meeting  me a handful of times.  What's more, I was out of town the entire time they were preparing, and they took care of everything without me needing to lift a finger.  The ONE thing I wasn't crazy about (a pillow), they exchanged quickly, and every interaction (phone, text, email) was handled promptly, professionally, and with enthusiasm, which made the whole experience less stressful and a lot more fun.The best part is, they not only met my tight turnaround, they also fell under my budget and I actually got a refund!     I am considering upgrading to a two-bedroom unit or townhouse when my lease expires, and you can bet they will be the first ones I call to design the new space. I'm a Realtor in Newport Beach and Style My Space was referred to me by a San Fernando Valley-based real estate photographer - I needed someone local for a home in Burbank. Kim and I had a wonderful initial chat and she arranged for Carine O meet with me and my client an initial staging/design consult.  She hit it out of the park! The Academy of Interior Design changed my life. I have toyed with the idea of getting my credential as an interior designer and starting my own interior design studio for several years but never known the steps to take or where to start. Finally, after a lot of online research trying to find the right program, I landed on the Academy. I loved what it offered but hesitated because of the price tag. I called one of the owners to talk it over before signing up. Kim walked me through step by step, answering all of my questions very patiently (never pressuring me at any moment) and then said something that made my gut tell me that this was the kind of course I wanted to be a part of. She said "we started the academy as a mentoring program first, a business second -- we love what we do, and we are passionate about mentoring aspiring designers and home stagers and equipping them with the right tools necessary to be successful." Then she told me that after the course ends, they provide six months of free coaching (as we start our business). After hearing these two things, my gut said go for it. So I did. I just completed the course yesterday. I am officially an interior designer and am starting to put the pieces together to start my business. None of this would have been possible without my experience at the Academy. Everything Kim promised me was true, and more. The course exceeded my expectations in every way. Our teacher, Wanda, was unbelievable. She's one of the best interior designers in the business and the fact that we got to learn from her is ...  INVALUABLE. Words can't really describe how amazing she is. She's incredibly talented, knowledgeable, well-versed in the business, articulate, patient (with my million questions) and SO KIND. The course she taught was incredibly informational and comprehensive -- we covered SO much information in one week! We learned the in's and out's of the business, the keys to being successful, business building essentials and so much more. They brought in different reps (Kohler, ProSource, Sherwin Williams) for us to learn from and ask questions to. We had an advertising agency talk to us for an hour about how to successfully market our business (this stuff is invaluable! they really equip you with everything you need!). They taught us how to use the necessary software to create design boards for our future clients. They taught us about pricing scales and business contracts. They helped us with our mission statements. The course is also incredibly immersive. Wanda took us to LA Mart (a trade only showroom where as interior designers we'll purchase furniture for our clients) and introduced us to vendors there that will be my future business partners. She also took us to a condo in Santa Clarita that she's currently designing and asked us to come up with a proposal for her clients loft (that she would show her client!) THATS IN THE FIELD EXPERIENCE. And lastly, on top of all of that -- and perhaps most importantly, they teach you to believe in yourself. I loved my training at The Academy of Interior Design!  It was 40 hours of education filled with class work, valuable discussion, guest speakers from the trade, tours of the Design showrooms, and real projects for clients where we all had a chance to showcase our proposed designs. Wanda, George, and Kim have collaborated very well to share their knowledge and we loved them all.  Most of the week was spent with Wanda and George and they presented material in a fun and informative way.  They really cared about our learning and shared their real life experiences in the field. Wanda was great about finding our true strengths and giving us the confidence to build on that. She also invited us to the field several times after the classes were over on real life Design installations to allow us to apply what we learned.  She cared about our success.  To top it all, it was done in a fun collaborative way.  Our class has bonded over these experiences and we shared our contact information with each other and continue to reach out to one another and also Wanda.  Thank you Wanda for helping us learn how to really listen to our client and go about the business of designing a space they will love and all in a fun yet professional way. All the tools you need to get your business going! Great guest speakers that actually teach you things you didn't even know you needed to know - and they are a great resource later on - trust me I use them all the time - and they never make me feel less than because I am new. As a matter of fact the entire course is like this. Advanced info with the right amount of beginner nurturing. I loved Wanda - she's got the biz smarts and the design chops. The classes are the right size to get lots of personal attention and questions answered. My only advice is be ready to hit the ground running when you get out of this course bc you will be pumped! The Academy of Interior Design was a fabulous experience!  The course exceeded all my expectations.  I give it 10 stars!  Kim Kapellusch and Wanda Colon co-created the "experience" that is offered at The Academy of Interior Design.  Detailed educational material and classes on every aspect of the interior design industry, along with trade tips to getting the client and the business, creating the comprehensive design plan, implementing the design plan, launching and marketing the business, keeping a positive mindset, and leaving the classroom prepared to open our businesses was all included.  This all takes place in a very "chill" learning space where Wanda meets you on Monday morning with a huge smile that stays the entire week.  Wanda's dedication to educate, inspire and support her student's passion to design and create interior design businesses is so obviously infused in every step of the journey that she enables the students to see themselves as designers and to think and act on their dreams with her by their side.  I left with a scheduled VIP coaching call scheduled with Wanda for the following Monday morning and will have that available to me for the next six months as part of my training.  Wanda will always be a text away forever!  I am sure of that!!!!! When I called Kim to see if she thought it would be smart to attend the Academy of Interior Design, she was a great coach.  She "listened" and heard I was passionate about various "lanes" of the design industry and encouraged me to go for it.  I am so happy we chatted.  This has been a monumental game changer for a new career in the field of my dreams..."design"...and The Academy has provided exactly that for me.  I love interior design and this course is amazing. During the week in Los Angeles we were blessed and inspired by not only Wanda and Kim but also every other instructor and guest speaker.  Wanda's business partner George Cambron (we all adored) brings the perfect harmonious 'designer team' to the room.  Wanda and George are a "dynamic duo" that shine in different design approaches and it blends together for a perfect "reveal".  George in his gentle delivery instructed us on floor plans and layouts, drawings and symbols, sample client "job scopes" etc etc with his unique inspirational approach. He is very organized and passionate as well. They are role models that are active in the interior design field.Speakers on flooring, paint, web applications, marketing on social media, a business coach who inspires positive thinking, along with sharing with the other design students added to the comprehensive format. We had so much fun on our field trip to the LA Mart.  George and Wanda are very popular there.  The LA Mart designers shared their passion and experiences (lighting, furniture, fabric, texture, policies, procedures etc etc) while we gazed at all the pieces!!  We witnessed the value of the relationships that George and Wanda have with their vendors showing us even more reasons why they have huge success with their business.I knew I was where I was suppose to be every step of the way.  Wanda shares stories and secrets and most of all her heart.  She made it so much fun maximizing our learning experience and it was so helpful while absorbing and visualizing all of the material. We just finished a two year high end spec. house project and hired Style My Space to do the the staging. We are so glad we did.

The whole process was easy and seamless. I called Kim and she came to see the space quickly and at my convenience. I had a budget number that I needed to stick to, so I told her what that was and she let me know what she felt she could do for the money. I agreed, she sent me a contract, I signed it and the deal was done. Easy.

On staging day Kim's team worked efficiently. They are all friendly, professional and polite. All of them had a good vibe and seemed happy doing what they were doing.

I'm especially impressed with Kim's what I call "soft skills", she was very adept at managing the creative process with us. Up until then we had done all the creative on the house except the architecture, so of course we had strong opinions. Kim knows how to listen, guide and take suggestions while staying in control of the project. I liked that when she had a different p.o.v. as me, she always justified her ideas and I found that I changed my mind, once she explained it to me.

Several of the agents that have been through the house have asked, who did your staging? Of course I handed Kim's card over with a high recommendation.

Kim and her staging company, Style My Space were absolutely fantastic! My husband and I bought a house that we realized wasn't going to work for us after a whole month of the purchase! We were worried because all the homes around us had been on the market for a few months without any offers so we decided to hire Kim to stage the home as it is pretty large (2,700 sf) and looked pretty empty.Let me start by saying that from the first phone call Kim was nothing but professional and efficient. We called her on a Friday and by Wednesday the staging was completed, all in one day I might add.  Her taste is impeccable and her professionalism is impressive, she worked within our budget and never once complained.Our home sold 2 days after it hit the market and we know that although the home is beautiful to begin with, the reason it sold so fast was due to the meticulous way in which Kim staged our home. At our realtor's suggestion, we contacted Style My Space (and a few other staging companies) to inquire about staging our condo to prepare it for sale. Kim responded to me quickly and gave me a ballpark estimate based on our square footage/floorplan.

I then made arrangements to meet Janet at the condo (we had been renting it out, and it was now empty) so they could plan the staging and provide a formal project proposal. After receiving our signed contract and payment, Style My Space scheduled the staging immediately. On the staging day, I showed up to provide access to the condo, and literally witnessed a transformation of the space. Janet had listened to me and my realtor on the look/feel that we wanted ... and she brought the vision to life.

We were thrilled with what we saw! But the real test would be the reaction from prospective buyers. We received multiple offers on our property as soon as our realtor starting showing the property and are scheduled to close shortly.

If we had to do it all over again, we would absolutely use Style My Space to stage our condo and highly recommend them to others looking to sell their home quickly (and above list price)! More...

I work for a living talking, advising, and coaching employees. My office space was horrible- a mis match and hodge podge of items. Wanda and George came to my office and took a quick look and developed a plan right away. They were honest about time and budget and created an incredible transformation. The turn around time to get my space updated and designed was fantastic. I can't say how many compliments I have received. I also want to say that this redesign was done at a studio with many, many restrictions (no painting the walls, no moving desk, etc). Wanda and George were able to work around these restrictions and added color to a stark white wall with colored shelving and amazing wall decal art. Since this was my work space and not my home I didnt want to spend tons of money. These guys were able to make the budget work. SO great and easy to work with. Wanda and her associate George recently finished a complete design project for my new place and they did a fantastic job. I had never hired a designer before and was a little intimated by the prospects of hiring someone, but Wanda made the entire process easy .

I decided to remodel my 2+2 condo in PDR, California and after a month in the project, realized that I need help. I found Wanda on houzz. com with great reviews and beautiful portfolio. I called her and after talking to her for a few minutes, I immediately felt better and knew Wanda can help me. ( I was in panic mood ). She came along with her partner George and they both gave me amazing ideas. it's almost 2 months later and our contract is over but Wanda answers my questions and follows up. She let me use her 20% discount from RH and Zgallerie and that by itself saved me a bunch.

Wanda came to Savannah as a guest at my wedding a few years back. I had only met her once before, yet when she saw the look of disappointment on my face because the holiday decor at the reception hall was not at all what was promised, she sprang into action.
