Steve Wallen Swim School

I had been looking for a great swim school for my 10-year-old daughter who had not had a pleasant experience in the past. I chose to try the Steve Wallen Swim school because of the great reviews I had read about online . I signed my daughter up for the privacy 1 day a week for four weeks session and it has been incredible. You can judge the quality of a facility based on their response to a challenging situation. There was a mix up that had occurred on our last session and the front desk handled the situation with the upmost quality of customer service. I was so shocked and surprised by their willingness to assist my daughter and I in anyway possible due to the mix up. We enrolled my daughters in swim at Steve Wallen because of the great reviews and we are so happy we did! In two sessions my daughters are excited to go to swim and are super comfortable in the water. The instructors do a great job at making the kids feel comfortable and confident in the water. We absolutely love Steven Wallen Swim School! My 2 year old daughter was terrified of having water in her face and her instructor Erykah made her feel comfortable and now confident in the water. We are so happy with the progress we have seen in two months! My youngest started at 10 month in the baby and me classes and they are just as great! During my daughter's first semi-private lesson, she had a not so nice instructor.  Given the fact that my daughter is a beginner, I felt like the instructor wasn't patient and kept pushing her head to correct her form.  I understand that is something they do, but this was not the kind of gentle push.  I was uncomfortable watching it, but my daughter complained about it after class.  I had to request a new instructor.  During her makeup session, she ended back with the same mean instructor.  My husband came with me this time and he noticed the same thing - the way she interacted with my daughter.  I wasn't happy today, but since she has 1 lesson left, I figured whatever, we won't be back here anyway and to be done with. However, the facility is clean and the other instructors were very nice and encouraging to the young students.  My daughter has gained a lot of confidence in the water and can swim on her own.  My only complaint is about that one girl. My 2.5 year old daughter is on week five of her first session with SWSS and we couldn't be happier. We are doing private lessons with instructor Samantha and she is awesome! I love the bond Samantha has made with my daughter. We have been very impressed with this session and the progress made, that we decided to continue for the June session as well. I just wish we had known about SWSS and few years ago when my older daughter needed lessons - we have tried a couple other swim schools and nothing has compared to the quality experience we have gotten at SWSS. I was looking for a reasonably priced swim school for my kids to learn how to swim before our own pool is built. I found this school online and so far am super impressed! My kids loved it from the moment we walked through the doors. The facility is clean and organized, pool is heated, the teachers are awesome and great with kids, and my kids confidence increased even in just the 30 minutes they took their first class. Horrible Costumer Service!I signed up online for a "free trial class," and no one called me, email me, or anything for about two weeks until I called them (for a second time) explaining my situation. The lady who returned my called did NOT sound friendly, patient, and professional. Instead she sounded like in a hurry, impatient, and impolite. Definitely not taking my kids there. I've had my kids do parent/tot lessons at Lifetime, toddler private lessons at Sea Otter, and my recently turned 3 year old is on his second month at SWSS.   I can undoubtedly say that SWSS has been the best of the three. They are strictly enforcing covid guidelines, the instructor my son has (Tyler) has been great, the facility is clean, and they are reasonable about rescheduling (Sea Otter had and possibly still has no makeup lessons). I like that Tyler never coddled my son and challenged him to do things like jump in and swim back to the wall. The only thing that does make me nervous is that for a semi-private lesson, the kids take turns and I always feel like my eyes are glued on the kid that is left alone on the step. They are instructed to not put their head under the water, but I've seen it happen and around water, I feel like you can't trust little kids to always listen. Anyways, we are leaving SWSS soon not for any issues but because my kids take private swim lessons at a neighbor swim teacher's house during the summer. If your child needs to learn to swim or to get a bit more practice, this is the place. My daughter has been coming here for 5 months now. She started off with no swimming skills, would never enter the pool without her puddle jumper on, and just couldn't relax her body to even float when we tried working with her (my husband was a FL lifeguard in his past life).Figured to give this place a chance and, boy, was that the right decision. Miss Alyssa J (no longer there) was her first instructor. She was a dream! Within one month my daughter was swimming freestyle the length of the pool. They had great communication and trust. Since Miss Alyssa is gone (2 weeks now) the other instructors that have worked with my daughter are Jayden and Skyler. Both great.Office is clean and sanitized often. Front desk personnel are sweet and communicate efficiently. I love that they text me when they need to get ahold of me.I asked my daughter if she had any problems she wanted me to list and she said that she doesn't like switching teachers. We are a committed to one person kinda people.  Switching instructors only really happens when an instructor calls out sick or is on vacation.Would def recommend. More...

I signed up and took my grandson to Wallen Swim School for private lessons. My grandson was pool safe in a short time and he is enjoying swimming in our pool. I highly recommend this swim school. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. My son has been doing lessons here with Tyler for about 9 months now. When he first started he was so fearful. I had to hand him over to Tyler crying for his lesson. Tyler was so patient! My son went from being terrified to even go in the water, to absolutely thriving in the water. It took time, as his fear was quite high. He also does not adapt well to new things. Tyler was incredibly patient the entire time. He was calm, consistent, and worked diligently with him, never giving up. It's hard to believe this is even the same kid that started there 9 months ago. I recently started my younger daughter as well, with Skyler and she is also amazing!! She is patient and fun and a perfect match for my energetic 3 year old. I would highly recommend Steve Wallen for swim lessons. It has been well worth it! I feel good about my kids' safety around water now. Plus, they love going there! We are so grateful for this place! My son has been going here for 5 weeks. In those 5 weeks he has made STRIDES in his swimming. He's done more in these 5 weeks than he did in 5 months at his last local swim school. Yes, this costs more than the Roseville City swim lessons, but having done both I would highly recommend Steve Wallen.  My wife signed up both of our children for individual lessons at Steve Wallen and they showed more improvement in 3 lessons than they did in 4 weeks of the Roseville public lessons.  Our 7 y/o went from barely being able to tread water to swimming the length of our pool, above and beneath the water, with confidence. Our 4 y/o went from being scared to be with anyone else in the water to swimming the width of our pool, she almost has too much confidence.Lessons are organized and on time.  Typically it is with the same instructor so your kids pick up where they left off last lesson. The instructors give a good recap of what went well and what needs more practice.As a pool owner this is a must for me as all the sirens in the world can't help your kid save themselves or even a sibling in the event something goes wrong.Downsides:Cost - But easily countered by value as described above.Smell - Indoor pool, not much you can do there.  Waiting area isn't too bad. Steve Wallen Swim School was the second school we attended for our daughter. The first school she became so scared of that even driving there terrified her. By time she entered SWSS, she was reluctant to even put her face near the water. The instructors were patient and understanding of her fear and worked tirelessly with her to overcome it. She now has become a great and confident swimmer who looks forward to her weekly lessons. My other daughter also went through a regression where she became fearful and the instructors worked hard to bring back her love of the water. We are thankful for our daughters learning life saving skills, but also appreciative that they have found an activity that they love! More...

We joined just over a year ago after moving here from the Bay Area and couldn't be more pleased. The instructors are professional and so good with our young kids (3 years old and 1 year old). The 1:1 lessons have been game changer for our 3 year old and she is thriving in the water. Our 1 year old gets plenty of attention in the Baby and Me class and has already gotten so much more comfortable in the water. Our 6 year old son has been attending Steve Wallen Swim School in Roseville for semi-private lessons since Summer of 2020 & what a world of difference it has made with his swimming skills. He went from being the shy kid hanging on the stairs in the pool to diving for rings, jumping into the deep-end, & swimming the length of the pool with minimal assistance. The staff is always friendly when we arrive & the instructors are just amazing with the kiddos. Even on days when his usual instructor is out the sub instructors fall right in seamlessly keeping him on track with his progress. Steve Wallen swim school is awesome! This is my daughters second summer/fall season, and it's made such a different in her swim abilities. This week, the teacher was so encouraging and taught her how to do side breaths, dive for rings, and conquer her fear of the diving board, all in one 30 minute session! This swim school is fantastic!!! My daughter has been swimming for 2+ years now and we absolutely love it! The staff are so kind and friendly, the best! If you can't make a lesson you call ahead of time and schedule a make up class no problem. I love their flexibility and the way they make you feel like part of the family. Our instructor is Mr. Jaden and he is absolutely wonderful. My daughter chooses swim over all of her activities because of him. He makes each lesson so much fun while advancing her abilities! Also I have to say that the facility is immaculate. There is a wonderful sitting area for parents watch as their kids swim, restrooms, and changing rooms. For safety reasons the changing rooms and seating are are not currently being used however they have accommodated by putting chairs inside the swimming pool area, requiring masks, and recommending the restrooms only be used if necessary. The back garage door is open to allow the indoor pool to become slightly outdoors and much safer. I'm so impressed with all the steps I've taken to keep families safe and swimming. More...
