Amazing tour around downtown Lahaina on a fun segway! My party and I booked a tour for 10:30am on a Tuesday, and we were joined by another couple. Parking is a little tricky, as you would have to find parking in the streets, since the back parking lot is reserved for other businesses in the area, so there's no spots for segway participants. They have you sign waivers and watch a short video about segways, as well as give you helmets, bright vests, radios to hear the tour guide on the tour. This was my first time on a segway, and I was a little nervous, but our tour guide, Darren, was amazing. He was enthusiastic, made sure that we were confident in operating the segway, and made us all have a great time. The tour goes around downtown Lahaina, stopping at some historical sites to look around, and Darren even took some photos for us that are available for purchase after the tour. A special perk of our tour was that it lasted a little longer than usual, but only because Darren didn't have a tour for later that day. My husband, teen son and I had a great time doing the 90 minute ride around Lahaina with Mark as our guide. We saw a short video and put on helmets and vests. He made sure we were all comfortable riding the Segways before we headed out, which was reassuring.  Even though the area was crowded, we never felt unsafe. The tour was interesting and Mark showed up all kinds of cool places in town including the old fort, the harbor, the huge banyan tree, the old jail, the seaman's hospital, the oldest church in Hawaii and lots of other fun stuff. Has a great time on our Segway tour today with Mark as an awesome tour guide! He took us all around Lahaina pointing out historical buildings and sites, providing fun facts like the Forest Gump bench and interesting tid bits about the other islands. The route is fairly easy. A few grass and dirt tracks but that's unavoidable really and easy to navigate. Fun activity for singles, couples and families! They'll take fun shots that you can buy post tour too. What a fun way to see Lahaina!  Our tour guide was John and he provided expert training on the Segway and made for a perfect tour guide.  The Segways worked perfectly and the company helps to make this a very safe adventure.  I think even if you have never been on one before you will have no trouble.  The free time at the park was a real bonus as they give you some time to have some fun on your own. The headsets are a plus as your guide is giving you important safety info and some history of the island. We all felt comfortable after Mark gave us excellent training and time to practice before the tour. I always thought it would be hard to be comfortable on a Segway but I was wrong. Segway Maui was the first Segway experience for me and my husband.  Boy did we choose the right place to learn.  We were allowed as much time as we needed to become comfortable with how the equipment operates.  Excellent instructions were provided and it did not take us very long to become confident. Tom was our trainer and tour guide.  He was easy to talk with and his narrative about the history of the town and Maui was very interesting.  He led the way through the town and made it very easy for us to follow.  His attention to our safety and the safety of pedestrians we passed was very apparent.  Tom made it a pleasant experience for us.  We had the sunset tour and stopped several times for pictures along by the way. Segway was easier and more fun than I expected. Maybe because Mark was a good instructor. Not only was it fun riding the segways we learned a lot. We have been to Maui 6 times and saw things on the segway trip we have never taken the time to look at in the past. Mark gave a lot of history about all we saw. We had a great time with Mark for our tour. He was fun and knows a lot of history. We learned a lot. Plus he knew right where the turtles swim and that was amazing watching them. The tour was a little long for us and we would have enjoyed a stop for local ice cream or pineapple along the way.  But you cannot beat this place for price, safety and best equipment. This and the luau were the highlight of our trip to Lahaina. It was a family of six ages 11 to 39 with no previous experience and we all enjoyed the tour immensely. It was a little nerve-wracking going along a busy road but we got to see some ins and outs of places we never would have found otherwise. Fantastic and we all highly recommend this tour. My family and I had an excellent experience at Segway Maui.  After signing some waivers and reviewing a safety video we got some practice and training time riding the Segway PTs.  Learning curve is not steep and my family all felt extremely comfortable within minutes.The tour through town was fun and our guide Mark was extremely knowledgeable about the town, as well as the rest of the island. He made it fun and safe for the entire family.If you're in Lahaina, it's a great family activity and gives you a different perspective of the town.  Makes you want to buy a Segway when you get back home! This is probably one of the most fun things we did as a family during our vacation in Maui. Our guide took us around Lahaina and explained our the history of this island. He was extremely knowledgeable and very patient. None of us had used a Segway before. The earlier training was very helpful when we were on regular streets. This was such a fun excursion! John was very patient with our family who ranged in ages from 11-69 and had never ridden Segways before. The seven of us had a private tour around town. This was one of our favorite things we did In Maui.. We got to see some historic landmarks such as the sugarcane train, and a Buddhist temple that had a huge statue of Buddha, which was awesome. We got to enjoy the beautiful views that Maui offers. Mark was our tour guide and he was great- was a great teacher and knowledgeable about the island, he made us feel safe and comfortable the whole time and memorized our names which made him very personable. We were afraid at first, but after Mark taught us and some practice on top of that, we became Segway pros ! Lol. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Maui, it was very worth it. Summary: A great way to experience Lahaina. Excellent guide with fun knowledge about the island. Intimate Segway opportunity on well maintained machines. Mark is the man!On our last day in Maui, my wife and I scheduled a Lahaina Segway excursion for three hours. We had done two other Segway tours previously: one in Hershey and one in Redondo Beach. Given that we had some experience, Mark  (our guide) felt comfortable enough with us to take a journey all the way from Lahaina to Kaanapali and back. Then, we went roaming around the town in Lahaina. All along the way, Mark provided us with information (he had a microphone and we had earpieces) about what we were seeing and experiencing, including many things that one would normally miss when visiting the area.  We stopped regularly to stretch our feet and drink water, he provided us with as much shade as possible, we got lots of pictures (including ones we wanted to stop and take at random points, which he was more than willing to accommodate), and he always ensured that we were safe and having a good time.  This was easily the best of the three Segway tours we have done to date, and we look forward to doing it again the next time we get to visit Maui. We have only done one other Segway tour , and it was nothing compared to the instruction we received from John.  We were greeted as we arrived and professionally guided through the whole program.  You receive the perfect safety instructions, you're given a helmet, a personal radio and he trains you one at a time.We had a great time and we always felt safe!  I highly recommend this Segway tour! This is my second Segway review. I also posted one on Segway of Hawaii on Trip Advisor. To repeat a little bit, we've ridden segways in fun and exciting places (Old San Juan, Chicago by the Lake, NOLA, Nassau), and once again we were fortunate that my wife and I  were the only ones on this tour. We signed up for the advanced tour, and once we were tested by Mark, our tour guide, we were packed in a van and driven up the coast to a nature preserve.While this trip did not have the fantastic views of Diamond Head that our other tour had, this one was just plain fun!  Mark pointed out some local trees and fauna. He had clearly done his research and knew interesting facts about various plants and locations. This was a "hilly" ride, which is extremely fun on a Segway.  At different points we could see other islands, and the view was beautiful.  But just riding up and down the hills, in the preserve, was just plain fun. There was just the right amount of stops to keep our legs fresh but we just spent a couple hours riding. With the wind in your face, and sun and ocean, it was fabulous. I just can't express in words how much fun we had. Both my wife and I commented that some tours are a lot of history, which is fine, because that's why you're doing the tour. This tour was just for the fun of riding a Segway.  Again, we took the advanced course, I'd recommend you take the city course, which is through Lahaina and very beautiful, if it's your first or second time out. For those who have never ridden a segway and are wondering if you can do it, let me tell you, you can! My wife and I are both almost 60 and we love it. We try to do it on every cruise we are on. As long as you are within the weight limits (check with the place you are using, each one has different requirements based on the their segway model) and can stand upright for a couple hours, with breaks, you'll do fine. You don't have to have great balance, because the segway does that for you.  I encourage everyone, at least try it once.As you can tell, we had a great time. Again, I would have to say there are no "Cons" for this tour, only "Pros"!  Note that if you take the advanced trip in the preserve it does take about 15 minutes to get there, so make sure you keep that in mind for timing. You still get the full amount of time on the Segway, so no worries.Mark was a knowledgeable and congenial tour guide. Ask him how he got to Hawaii, it's an interesting story! More...
