What makes a great website?
A website has to be more than just aesthetically pleasing, it also has to have great functionality (as in people can easily find what they're looking for), and it needs to be secure. This is especially important for ecommerce sites, so we make sure to add layers of protection to any website that processes any kind of transaction.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We will ask you to send us examples of website you love, and what you love about them; we will want to know what the main purpose of your website is (to sell? to build your email list? etc.); and we will need to know the deadline. We will also ask questions about your business/organization so that we understand you and your brand, and can build a website to match.
Describe your creative process.
We start by meeting with the client over the phone/Skype, or in person. We spend a lot of time getting a feel for them and their style, and what they're looking for in a website. We discuss our ideas with them, and make a few sketches to illustrate those ideas. From there we develop a wireframe (or website mockup) that they will need to approve before we go any further. This ensures the client is getting exactly what they asked for and there are no (bad) surprises. We also provide possible color schemes and images during this point for approval. From there our coders begin building the site. Our clients get check-in points along the way so they can see how progress is going up until it's a finished product.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
What is the main purpose of this website? Who is the target audience for this website? What are some things you love/hate about other websites in your industry? What is the deadline and budget for this site? What elements (photos, copy, logos, etc.) can you provide us, and what do you need us to produce for you? What pages does this website need (blog, About, contact, etc.)?
What do you love most about your job?
We get to work with some of our best friends creating cool and interesting products for other business owners. There is something wonderfully fulfilling about helping businesses grow! Also, we get to work in our pajamas. Which is pretty cool.
What inspired you to start your own business?
In 2010 one member of the Social Linus ownership team was laid off from a film company; several of that company's clients reached out to him because they liked what he did with their social media, and they wanted to keep working with him. So we started our own company, grew it to specialize in website design and content creation, and here we are.
Why should our clients choose you?
We spend a lot of time learning new and trending strategies and techniques for creating maximum impact for our clients. We believe staying up to date on the best practices (because they change rapidly in this industry!) is important to stay relevant. Beyond that, we develop strong relationships with our clients because we want them to know they can rely on us. The project isn't done until you are completely happy with the result.
